oh Sweet this was my shoutout episode

Logan Bradford

Cant wait to see your reaction to the next couple episodes!

BotheredAsh

I agree, please use different subtitles! Crunchyroll has a great version. It has more impact on the experience than you may think. Plus some of the names are just wrong. (LBernard” instead of Bertholt... who tf is bernard lol)

CastSenpai

Guys even if you think you're being subtle just don't mention anything that can even be slightly construed as spoilers. If it's something he's not seen yet just don't even mention it, you're not clever and if you've watched his videos you can tell that he has great deductive skills. Let him enjoy the show we all know he will and I can't wait to see his reactions once things start ramping up.

Zac Rushton

You mean Birth Control? And we can't forget his trusty friend, Rhino!

Aaron Ong

I fucking love Burrito Hoover

Rudy Strother

Well, those are synonyms and based on the subs you use, they can be Scouting Legion, Scout Regiment or Recon Corps

Paul

Yeah most subs use Survey Corps and there are a lot more fucks than I remember. Not to mention some last names are still off. Like isn't Sasha's last name Braus and not Blouse? And I think the subs called Bertholdt Bernard

Kassandra

Just another day for...

KJ Gaona

Beartoto Hoover is my fav character. Ackermann who?

KJ Gaona

I have understood it all. I’m saying nothing gets answered anytime soon. Initially it just builds up questions. And I remember that frustrating me while watching. Getting nothing but more questions and having to wait so long for answers.

Itachi The Rouge

You mean Berotoroto Hoover?

ArmdVctr

Yes, there is a lot of tension. It is done on purpose as they are dealing with an enemy they know very little about. Emphasizes what little control the humans have and how brutal the world is. The tension kind of increases but it is different as things unravel. Also, the subtitles are not accurate. They keep saying 'recon' when it is 'survey corps'.

Yusuf

I am not what you are talking about because most questions get answered. If you are up to date then you would very few questions. I am up to date with the manga, all the questions get answered. Maybe you haven't understood some things?

Yusuf

ah yes my favorite character Bernard Hoover...

Sharan Chakravarthy

Oh... damn. Yeah. You’re right. I DO have that same feeling watching this show. I wasn’t even conscious of it til you said that lol wow

Andrew G

Am I the only one who's still a bit iffy on those subtitles. A lot of the phrasing in these seems a bit overly edgy (tons and tons of fucks thrown around that I haven't really seen in any other sub) and at times super clumsy compared to other subs I've seen. Maybe it's just me. I've just never seen a good sub that uses "recon corps" so maybe I'm a bit biased because of that.

Something I forgot to mention before: As you noted, the music is super duper good in this show. The soundtracks for seasons 1-3 are on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. The song you heard during the training scene was DOA. You'll hear it again because this show frequently re-uses the song melodies as thematic material for the instrumental score. The reverse is also true! Some of the melodies in the score get used as the basis for later songs. Also, sometimes the exact same track even gets re-used for another scene but with certain lines or instruments omitted. (That last part is pretty common for anime as most shows don't get the ATLA/LOK treatment. With a show like that, even though a lot of melodies and other musical material were re-used regularly, there were new cues/arrangements being recorded for each episode.) Anyway back to AoT. Some of the musical connections between scenes were lost on me because I'm so focused on obviously recognizable melodic and harmonic connections instead of the other aspects like rhythms, textures, and effects. So as an example, the music from when Eren and Mikasa were running through Shiganshina in the first episode repeated during his conversation with Reiner and Bertholdt late at night. I didn't notice it until I re-watched it in your reaction because some of the instruments I had paid the most attention to were absent in that version. It's bewildering to think about how many moments like that I didn't notice before even though I've listened to the soundtrack so much. I'm looking forward to discovering those connections as you watch the show. I know I'm nerding out a bit, but its because I love the music in this show so much. I listen to at least a little of the soundtrack every day. HENNYWAYS GLAD YOU'RE ENJOYING THE SHOW BYE

KJ Gaona

After watching your reaction to episode 3, I binged watched the show. I am already on season 4 lol

Osvaldo Valencia

The cadet parts were some of my favourites, too. The characters have a great range of personalities, and it's really fun watching them interact! Too bad there's so few of these relatively peaceful scenes :') Also I know EXACTLY how you feel about aot being very tense. Although I enjoyed it, I was also stressed the whole time because you felt that something awful could happen at any minute lol

penguin

You bring up a really good point actually. Being up to date in season 4 and rewatching the show here for the first time, honestly it feels like watching a completely different and new show knowing what I know now. It was clearly all thought and planned out.

Itachi The Rouge

What? Almost all the questions I've had have been answered, except for some of the new ones generated later. Everything was pre-planned for years, and executed really well.

Aaron Ong

From what I’ve seen in terms of spoilers, it definitely seems like there was explicit foreshadowing in the first season to some pretty major events. To me it seems like the writer knew what he was doing, at least in multiple instances Either he knew what he was doing when he wrote it, or he was talented enough to make it up as he went along I haven’t finished the show I’m still on season 1, but I have seen clips and some manga spoilers

Nick

Oh you pour soul

Aaron Ong

Attack on Titan is verrrry unrelenting, but that just makes its rare moments of warmth some of the warmest.

Aaron Ong

Lol I’ll warn you now almost every episode will leave you on the edge of your seat with a cliffhanger I feel so bad for you cause I binged the hell out of this show. It’s so hard not to. I imagine you changing clothes just to watch and film the next episode early 😂

Itachi The Rouge

I 100% agree that the show feels very tense and gritty. There is constantly a tension in the air that never goes away. It can be good and bad at times but considering the context and story of the show it makes sense to feel that way. Kinda like a good war movie. As far as questions go, You will only get more and almost never be given answers. I’m up to date and I can’t tell if the writers had it all planned or were just coming up with it as they go. Either way it works well and has not disappointed me yet! So excited for episode 5!!

Itachi The Rouge

They actually interweave cadet training through flashbacks so don't worry

ArmdVctr

Eren's one track mindset brings him to interesting directions... I won't say anymore due to spoilers...

ArmdVctr

Typically I'm only one or two days ahead, but I'm trying out a new filming/editing schedule to be a little more efficient, so right now I've seen through episode 6.

Alex G

Yeah I can't help but compare it to FMAB since up until now that has been the roughest show I'd watched. FMAB gives you intense pain but also incredible warmth. Attack on Titan so far is unrelenting

Alex G

I stopped watching the first time for basically the same reason. It was just super depressing, there was no joy in that world and it can be kind of a chore to work through it. How far in advance of posting these do you watch the episode? Eagerly waiting for the next one.

Etsch

Haha sometimes I imagine just binge-watching the entire show in a livestream

Alex G

yes, it's very gritty, and keeps you on your toes. That's sort of what keeps things really interesting, engaging, and keeps me thirsting for more. The tension really draws me in and gets me invested in each and every moment. It's definitely a binge-worthy show. It's also so interesting watching this back knowing what I know; thinking about things totally differently. I can't wait to see you unwrap this whole thing; it's only just beginning.

Aidan Pullen

UGHHHH Can you just binge it and upload it at the same time. I need MORE!!!

hays collins

Cliffhangers hurt extra bad when you can't binge-watch lmao Yeah copyright can be a headache, but it's alright, it's just the nature of the game. I'm sure the people who manually flag are just doing their job. But maybe one day they can assume leadership of these companies and hold themselves accountable.

Alex G

I see that Attack on Titan went to the school of Fullmetal Alchemist cliffhangers What a crazy ending for an episode to have. I’ve watched ahead just to the next one, it’s wild On another note, I’m sorry you have to deal with the copyright stuff. Thank you for still posting these extended ones here, even if they can’t make it on YouTube
