I'd watch a full show about Zaheer. Or Guru Laghima for that matter.

No matter how much I disagree with the execution of LOK, I will say that your reactions have given me a new appreciation to some aspects of the show. I still believe that they shouldn't have broken the last 26 episodes up into two seasons but rather one long season and a midseason finale with Zaheer & gang as the main antagonists. They also have too many characters that they have to juggle that some end up feeling left out or forgotten entirely.
As always, your insights are much appreciated!

I feel if Wu was a more capable king who could protect and build the Earth Nation Kuvira would have actually considered stepping down.

The shot of Korra standing there freeing Jinora and the others’ spirits is one of my favorite in the entire series.

I like the expression one should not seek out war but must always be ready for it. I think it would be right for her to seek out a peaceful solution but the moment Kuvira attacks respond with force. Her father the former fire lord was instrumental in creating the United Republic, it is her responsibility to protect that ideal on some level I think she knows this as her own son is leader of the united forces.

I'm sorry, last week of Korra? How will I survive without this anymore??

I have learned so much about the avatar shows about how you don’t necessarily have to forgive but you can accept and move past things. I’ve always been a person to push for forgiveness since I thought it was the best option but slowly I have come to realize that it’s not for everyone and there is the option to not forgive or take revenge, but to accept it learn from it. It’s amazing really and I’m so sad that you are about to finish Korra 😭

I have always wondered, why didn’t the chiefs of northern and southern water tribes show up in this meeting. I mean, it is an international conflict going on at this point am I right? If Tenzin was there representing the small community of Airbenders, couldn’t they have discussed this with Tonraq along with the Eska and Desna?

A small, sometimes overlooked detail in this episode comes when Zaheer helps Korra enter the spirit world. As Zaheer and Korra both sit down, the avatar theme begins to play and colour bathes the screen. Teal covers Zaheer and blue covers Korra but there's an imbalance in the distribution. The teal covers 3/4th of the screen which seemingly encroaches into Korra's space. This seems to indicate that Korra is in fact imbalanced. Colour is used like this frequently in the show, particularly the last episode in the series.

I think was it really shows in Zaheer is that he truly is a man of conviction. He has his code and he does not stray from it. In a way he does have enemies, he just has the people who are in the way of his goals. I think that's how more people should be in a way like we walk together where we agree and have conflict where we don't. But just because there is conflict doesn't mean we have to stop walking together on those other topics. That's how we make positive progress and don't end up bickering as the world falls apart lol

Great quote and a great message.
I like what you said about psychedelics. I think the same holds true at multiple levels, like by fighting change, or observations that at first seem negative, that constrains your experience of them in a way and limits your understanding of them.

I've always seen the whole "aligning interests" writing decision as partially appealing. At least with Zaheers case, we know he would NOT Approve with kuvira. She is exactly the kind of person he wanted to destroy. And so to Defeat the greater evil in his eyes, hes willing to assist his former enemy for the greater good. To me that shows a great deal of maturity and thoughtfulness. It would seem petty if he had held a grudge just because Korra defeated him. I loved your reaction to Korras healing. It's so true that you can't forget it. As painful as it was, your trauma is seared into you. And you need to learn to accept that fact. Although it did destroy Korra, trauma is honestly a kind of screwed up way of true growth. And I've read plenty of reports about abuse victims or rape victims confronting the abuser or cause of their pain. I can see how that can be empowering, being brave enough to look that "evil" in the eyes and rise above it. Im super sad for next week, but at the same time, very excited! See you then!

I love the message that this episode gives. Being able to accept is a big part of the healing process. And can we agree that Zuko raised his daughter right?

That's a great point, they do that so well. As Korra said, you don't forget. But you can incorporate those experiences to grow and move past them. I like the visual representation of Zaheer taking Korra through the experience head on and telling her to keep going until she gets through it.

Favorite zaheer quote "you say your powers have limits, i say they are limitless"
That whole guided entry to the spirit world really just made me think of how people decide reeeally strong psychedelic experiences. Where you are kind of blasting off and it can be really scary and you can fight it but it just leads to discomfort and a bad experience. But when you accept it and weather the experience you break through to this other side and that is what every pyschonaut is looking for. Just a curious thing i thought when i watch it.
But man what a powerful message about accepting the bad things that happen to you and allowing yourself to move pass it. Such good stuff ❤️

I always keep coming back to this episode, I find it really comforting in a weird way. I especially appreciate the emphasis the Avatar Universe has always placed on not necessarily forgiving and forgetting, but being able to accept and evolve from the trauma we experience. I also find it really amazing how so many of the characters have been able to confront their tormentors and in doing so have found peace. (Ursa, Korra, Zuko, Katara ) I think that's something that although it isn't always the right decision for everyone, can often be the key in healing for many.

Love this episode I love zaheer and I loved watching Korra get over her block
Also loved seeing an airbender prison deep underground with multiple chambers of earth and metal before you even see the elevator up to the surface.
Loved seeing more energy bending progression. And loved herring ravaas voice again it’s so comforting
