Korra Season 2 Episode 10 Reaction (extended)

Comments

That actually got a chuckle out of me don’t let people put your sense of humor down dude! Idk what’s wrong with that guy

DrowsyCody

Bruh it’s stated in the show that vatuu is chaos and darkness and ravaa is light and peace they aren’t god and Satan or whatever bs lily orchard was pushing the dichotomy of beings exist in other cultures you just have to look outside your Americancentric bubble

DrowsyCody

I was really looking forward to you seeing Uncle Iroh! Your reaction didn’t disappoint.

Blackeyedlily

oh jesus that hurts

Jupiterninja

This episode (2x10) directly correlates with episode 2x10 in ATLA in that they both feature the prairie dogs at the beginning of the episode as well as the Spirit Library. It’s a great example of how Korra differs from Aang. In ATLA 2x10, the prairie dogs are friendly with Aang where as in LOK 2x10, they aren’t so friendly to the Avatar (an example of how Aang is spiritually superior to Korra). The child version of Korra also represents her spiritual immaturity. Just some observations I made during the re-watch :)

Patrick RL

Nope, the two spirits represent Good and Evil and are stupidly objective. Unalaq is wrong. That's right, the Avatar is objectively good all the time and Vatuu is the objective evil, this show in Season 2 successfully Christianizes a once Eastern Culturally influenced show into a Biblical objective good vs objective evil plot that always sucks and retcons everything from the previous show and lore.

benj

Thank you! I haven't played Oblivion unfortunately. Skyrim is the only one I've played

Alex G

That makes sense. I was surprised when he seemed friendly at first.

Alex G

Undertale reference! Yes!! I love Undertale lol. Iroh's connection to the Spirit World was shown in S1. When he saw Aang on Roku's dragon being the first instance of it but also, his defense of the spirits at the North Pole in the finale. The theory mentioned above is one I believe. I also think it's nice that it shows it's not JUST airbenders who can have such a deep spiritual connection to the spirit world and it seems to be more person based.

Trisha

Yeah, I still feel that way too. While I do understand where the other side comes from to a point I always felt like she took his side only because she was mad at them, especially her dad. I could be wrong but that's how I always picked it up.

Trisha

This episode really hit me in the feels the first time I watched it, and again upon rewatching it recently. Seeing Iroh again just gets me every single time. It's a happy feeling, but like, i dunno, happy sad feels.

WolfWarrior623

Imagine using a joke from a cartoon to make a political joke that's not funny.

William Wellman

I heard a theory once that where someone was wondering if Uncle Iroh originally traveled into the spirit world to find a way to bring back his son. I subscribe to that theory, and like to think that Iroh’s path to enlightenment was greatly enhanced by his journey into the spirit world, and failing to bring back his son. I’m sure that many lessons were learned along the way. Just my own head cannon though.

BicycleAcesUp

I still say if Korra had just listened to tenzin and here dad at the beginning of this season none of this would have happened or it wouldn't have been AS bad bear in mind I'm including the rest of the season after this episode as well.

Brimmy

You should never trust Fox to give accurate information.

My take - Furryfoot was influenced by Unalaq since Unalaq had been in cahoots with Vaatu. Furryfoot didn't betray Jinora, it's just that Furryfoot didn't have a choice and turned into his evil version, just like the spirits in Wan's story didn't have a choice under the influence of Vaatu.

Lily

This story is getting good... and korras fine too I guess

R'Mani Leavell

Not sure if you ever played Oblivion, but your Chaos vs Order theory reminded me of one of my favorite gaming experiences, playing the Shivering Isles dlc for Oblivion. Really appreciate the effort you put into these videos by the way, you could have easily just phoned it in but the amount of tlc you put into them really shows. I was keeping up with you but once I watched the first episode of season 3, the show has just FLOWN by, and now I am halfway though the final season. This show gets really good and I'm looking forward to your reaction when the time comes!

Jon

Wan Shi Tong probably isn’t a fan of the Avatar, since Aang promised not to “abuse” his knowledge, and then did just that, at least in his eyes. That was the final straw that led him to hiding his library away in the spirit world. That’s why when Jinora said she was with the Avatar, he was like “ooooh, the Avatar, why didn’t you say so?” And then he suddenly let her stay and left to tell Unalaq.

Calvin Brindley

The spirit world of avatar is very Feywild realm like DnD. Also i wonder why they didnt just call the dragon bird a Phoenix when thats what it is. I guess they didnt want to make the rebirth metaphor to blatant.

Nico Salerno

Tbf unaloq has always been a friend to the spirits he treats them with the utmost respect and even helps them return home to the spirit world when they are upset in the eyes of spirits he is a friend

DrowsyCody

I think Wan Shi Tong isn't necessarily a bad judge of character so much as he is focused on the wellbeing of himself and the other spirits. He really doesn't care much what humans do so much as his knowledge isn't abused and the spirits aren't harmed. From what we know of Unalaq, he is very good at appearing as if his intentions are pure and good. Not to mention, he has a deep connection with the spirits. He probably used it to befriend Wan Shi Tong, and he got fooled just like Korra and so many others. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the final episodes of season 2 since it's probably the most controversial one in the franchise.

Low key great comedic timing

Alex G

Yup! And Papyrus

Alex G

This was a lot earlier this time! Whoo means I can catch them before bed if this remains!

ComicalSkate

You reaction to Professor Zei's mention followed by his remains was the exact emotional rollercoaster I went on

Jupiterninja

Great reaction! I had the same reactions to Iroh and the Library LOL

Brandon Golpe

Was that the Sans text sound from Undertale?

Kingsley

remember in atla when iroh could see rokus dragon spirit? i think hes kinda like jinora and has an innate connection to the spirit world. also admiral zhao said that he heard about irohs journey to the spirit world too! so he seems in touch with the spiritual side.
