My artwork is sometimes about sensuality, and sometimes not. Nudity doesn't mean the work is automatically sensual, and vice versa. These are two qualities that may or may not correlate depending on the situation. And both nudity and sensuality are incredibly stigmatized, especially in men. The amount of unfair censorship I have to deal with on Instagram and other platforms is astounding. A lot of people are really uncomfortable seeing men depicted the way women are everyday. It's very troubling.
In my portrait project, I am creating the kind of media I wish I found when I was younger, forming opinions and a visual language for my passion. I hate that graphic, hardcore material is the way a lot of people come to understand and visualize a body’s value. I think allowing and supporting artistic representations of the human body is incredibly important. How else do you think we can break down this cultural barrier?
