Well I see AI ristk the same way I see guns. Maybe because I'm American I'd prefer almost everyone be armed so that government and billionaires aren't magical. They may be able to afford better guns but... They bleed just like us and they don't want to become nasty because things can get very nasty very fast. And if I had to pick between feeling "safe" until a dictator euthanizes me as my AI scenario and being in a technical wild West but being able to provide for my own defense I'll take the latter every time. Everyone has the tech and no one is magical. People are much less likely to be impolite that way. The fact that mostly without exception the AI people are very wealthy makes me think the "control" problem is less about AI and more about us. Remember most revolution succeeds when soldiers who are working class men and women refuse to shoot their own starving countrymen. A robot won't refuse the order so we need robots of our own.
