Nobody knows how or why, but on her 18th birthday, her body developed the ability to grow to gigantic proportions. With her increased size, she also grows in strength. At this height, she's hundreds of times stronger than Superman. More than a match for the Mad Titan. So when he comes through the dimensional portal and tries to take over, she makes quick work of him, shoving him into a humiliating prison from which he cannot escape.
One thing is certain: Thanos won't be returning to this world again in a hurry.
