Annie Kelly brings us an update on the state of the far right across the pond. Specifically, we learn about political party Reform UK, and its relationship to the UK’s two most prominent far-right figures. Those figures are: Nigel Farage, "Mr. Brexit" himself and Reform’s leader, and Tommy Robinson, the perpetually re-imprisoned anti-Islamic agitator. Elon Musk spent weeks on "X" boosting the views of Tommy Robinson. This has caused some consternation for Farage, who has tried to distance himself from Robinson’s explicit ethnonationalism.
This episode features contributions from Joe Mulhall, director of research at Hope Not Hate, the UK's largest antifascist organization.

2025-02-15 19:11:13 +0000 UTCThat audio of Farage talking about Elon using new tech has resurfaced a worrying clip I saw recently that seems to have flown completely under the radar - I urge you, anyone, including the podcast hosts, to watch the last bit of the 'Some More News' episode on Musk titled 'Musk Thinks You're a Fucking Idiot' where him, his mentally forsaken child and Tucker Carlson are talking bout election tactics, and what his kid keeps saying aloud. -+- And please don't take it as dem apologism: their behaviour, moral failure and depressing conservative rhetoric remains indefensible to this day, this isn't about them, and Musk's "shhh naughty mystery" may not have made much difference to the outcome, not that there's any laws to protect democracy from this shit anyway. -+- But there seems to be weird implications that musk has been up to something behind what we currently are aware of, and it ties a little too uncomfortably to Farage's coy comments here. And I am now increasingly concerned neither our hosts nor our press and politicians are vigilant - or the latter 2 informed enough to defend against possible future tactics used in our elections regardless of what the other parties do. Plus, in regards to that leaked pay-cheque number, if I was a sneaky far right politician and billionaire wanting to get that 100 million funding, I wouldn't say anything about it till after the election to make sure I wouldn't get blocked or banned or even shamed away from running for office. So of course they won't be admitting or making any transactions till as close to the actual campaign run-up as they can.
