Episode 233: Perception Management feat Ken Klippenstein

Infrastructure designed to combat "disinformation" is expanding rapidly within the US government and intelligence agencies. But how do they define it in the first place? And how much transparency around their methods is the public granted? Our guest is Ken Klippenstein, journalist for the Intercept.

Malinformation: things that are true but "out of context". I.e. things that are true but not framed in a way to make US look good.

This episode made me think and now my brain hurts where the hell is Jake.

Jay Miller

PilledDotNet was his victory lap

ploob

When is Travis's jersey retirement ceremony?

Nolan-Globus

The last 5-6 episodes (including premium) have been exceptional

Zachary Apoian

Travis is really coming into his savage era and I love that for him

Alecia S

I assume that was the Strain Disinfo revving up and not really Travis's last show. Great episode, thank you.

It’s interesting hearing the skepticism and stonewalling within the FOIA system from the outside perspective. When I was a CDC fellow the entire team got them from an anti-vax group (which isn’t what we researched), but everyone took it seriously and wanted to be completely open. But we aren’t lawyers and didn’t have any secret intelligence lol

Kendra Gilbertson

Travis is Strain Disinfo LLC looking to hire bc I’m tech avails

Shivvy

This episode is amazing. This is like.. the whole thing right here - disinformation, money, ai, failed public square / total atomization / denial of truth. Great episode. Great guest.

While I love the funny eps a lot I also love the informative eps a lot too

Greg C

Oh, I think a few of them claim to have read the Bible.

Snickerdoodle

Rest in pepperoni Travis

Travis isn’t leaving right now, it’s just a continuation of the bit at 56 minutes where he says he’s gonna try get a contract with the feds.

This isn’t travis’ last show you guys Julian’s just being a mean girl.

Ben Wood

Travis' last show??? I wasn't prepared for this. Nooooooooooooooo.😳

Cara

Travis' last show? Whaaaaaaaaaaattttttttt???????

Jayelle

I can see the advert now ....Swamp Analytics...Strain the Drain 😶

C’mon

Yep, he’s had enough of Swiss podcasters so he’s starting Strain Disinformation Analysis LLC to work for the feds.

Whoah whoah whoah, why is this Travis’ “last show”? Didn’t sound like a “I’m quitting cause this is a nightmare” gag…

I certainly hope that was disinformation

Mitch Patmagrian

😧

Travis' naive hope for Chansley is a clear symptom of Jake's absence from the pod. - Also, we ALL know why right-wingers were loudly clanging about the misinfo department being Orwellian and shit, they ain't fooling anyone with that old tripe. Would be nice if they read any other book at all though (or pretend they did lol).

Overzealous Euthanasiast

I think they interviewed Mike Flynn. Q-Daddy

Travis’s last show???

Liv Agar is in the house!

John Brandkamp

And, at 55:00, I’m not “the good family man”. I’m rational and care about this damned country.

Jon Adams

Just think: You're Fox Mulder, assigned to the wackiest parts of, what seemed to be while the world was growing up, the oblong bits of society/the world. "Find out the truth, but don't raise any noise." One teeny group against the giant machine. It is hard to be one or a few to go against those who still think their Russian/slavic language degree should be highly valuable, or that uneducated and naive ma and pa public is actually a dangerous thing.

Jon Adams

Yeah ..the "weaponization of government" brought to you by Weaponizing the Government 🤣 Very interesting episode, full of great stuff 😁 Livs analysis was dead on. Love it when she weighs in.

C’mon

Yes, We're the Government folks. WE are the deep state. Plain old shlubs without a single antenna or extra eyeball ....*sigh* 😞 😆

C’mon
