Yeah, it's literally indoctrinating you. That's a necessary and open part of the process of making a troop ready to serve in or around combat. And it's also a subculture that acts as an echo chamber. And ofc, how it reshapes your personality is far more dramatic if you go in at 17 or 18 with no other life experience. I went in over 30 so it broke my body more than my mind, but it still deeply changed who I am as a person.

2022-11-25 17:31:15 +0000 UTCA gubernatorial candidate not mentioned, but who thankfully lost, is Tudor Dixon in Michigan, who is pilled to the gills, as is Kristina Karamo, the Rep. Secretary of State candidate in Michigan. Who had several unpleasant main policies, and then the curve-ball of wanting to deregulate/directly assist autoshops in Michigan by having the state pay to bring them up to code instead of sanctioning them??? She worked in O'Rilley's Autoparts for a couple of years but like, c'mon.

2022-10-11 22:28:31 +0000 UTCSuch a great example of how simplistic cynicism leads to bizarre conclusions. Apparently, being in the military “cooks your brain.” There are many valid criticisms of the military without using so broad a brush you insinuate that veterans are de facto mentally “cooked.” Bad look and some shallow thinking on that one.

2022-10-08 19:39:34 +0000 UTCI think he meant that someone classified his normal military service to make it look like he has stolen valor.

2022-10-06 19:34:21 +0000 UTCI know someone who serves in Intelligence in the U.S. She became a chocolatier. So not all former Intelligence people went on to dangerous careers.

2022-10-06 16:45:57 +0000 UTCRe: Doug Mastriano's weird hat and spurs thing. He isn't so much as larping as a confederate soldier as he is showing off his membership to a stupid boys club within the military. certain army units that are "cavalry" make it elligible for you to take some difficult tests (mostly physical? idk. i think theres like a history test or something too) after which you are given your cavalry hat and spurs. its really dumb. source: i was in army rotc briefly in college and my not-boyfriend in my battalion was "air cav". none of it makes any sense. we dont ride horses. its still pretty larp-y, stupid, and it's a kinda gross romanticization of the confederacy which is endorsed by the army itself. https://1cda.org/history/cav-hat-spurs/
2022-10-06 16:41:59 +0000 UTCI don’t know, I think “Doug Mastriano: You Won’t Kill Yourself” is a winning campaign slogan
