Episode 195: Georgia Guidestones & Schizoposting feat Emmi Conley
Added 2022-07-13 19:45:59 +0000 UTCThe mysterious monument known as the Georgia Guidestones — "America's Stonehenge" — was recently destroyed. We cover how it was built in 1980 on a grazing pasture, why it created controversy, and its eventual bombing. Then we broach Bobby Crimo III, the recent mass shooter in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. To help us understand his digital footprint, we speak to Emmi Conley, an independent researcher of far-right extremist movements, digital propaganda and online subcultures. She discusses "schizoposting", "gore" forums and what happens when white supremacist ideology isn't a straightforward key to understanding a mass shooter's actions.

2022-07-15 19:03:24 +0000 UTCAm I wrong or did there used to be much more audio clips on the pod? Like, for example, why don't we hear a clip from a conspiracy promoter about the guidestones here? Is this an editorial decision? Have other people noticed this development? Just asking

2022-07-15 11:18:44 +0000 UTCThis was a good episode, but I would really like to see more information on your guest, Ms. Conley. She was introduced as a researcher, but I have been unable to find any of her research online. She is practically ghost on Google, and I was unable to find any of her research on Google Scholar either. Generally speaking, your guests tend to be credible, and I am inclined to give Ms. Conley the same benefit of the doubt. Still, some background on her qualifications and previous work would enhance her credibility as a researcher and lend important context to her expertise. I would be very grateful for any background on Ms. Conley or links to any of her previous research or articles. I welcome anything that anyone here is able to share.
2022-07-15 04:00:11 +0000 UTCHave lived in Georgia, can confirm that the guidestones would definitely still be up if there was a bunch of obvious racist shit on them.

2022-07-14 19:43:52 +0000 UTCHow difficult do you think it would be to create this monument yourself? I know that it’s very large, but i have to imagine its at least easier not then it was for the ancient monuments…
