Could you guys link me to where you found that string of absolute bangers that Jake read from Solomon Southwick? I keep playing that part down the mic playing PS5 with the boys, would like to be able to text them it too πŸ€£πŸ‘Œ

Have you ever read Gore Vidal's historical fiction series on American history? I only got a short way through the second book, Lincoln, and Thurlow Weed keeps getting mentioned on the side like he's a devil or something. Multiple times as the characters are dealing with stuff in mid-19th century Washington these lines show up like, "Where the dastardly Thurlow Weed was known to hold court." or "He was told to stay away from such places, where men took orders from the manipulator Thurlow Weed." I hadn't heard of that name and seeing it mentioned like that left me unsure as to whether Vidal was making some kind of joke or what.

In medieval times the masons were relevant and were essentially proto-unions for the only free class of people that were not land holders. The masons, joiners, and smiths were both free and β€œworking class”. The culture of secrecy had mostly to do with guild practices being preserved.
