Don't know what to do.
Added 2022-09-09 02:18:25 +0000 UTCHey, so not sure yet; but I may end up going on hiatus.
My store got new owners, and they're increasing the store hours. An extra hour every night, and three extra hours on sundays.
I have next to no social life already, thanks to my day job; and I'm sure you've noticed I've already been struggling to keep up with drawing.
Now it's going to take me even longer than it already has been to get anything done. especially considering I got a good chunk of art done on sundays, since I left at 6 p.m.
I asked for less days (days; not hours), but we're understaffed; so my manager refused.
At this point I'm just entirely worn out (not to mention I had my first kidney stone this week, which was one of the most incredibly painful things I've experienced; so that didn't help XP)
Anyway, not making any plans for a hiatus right now; but unless I just draw nonstop and don't sleep, I really don't know what else to do.
That being said, I'm still working on the pizza thing I posted the other day; just needed to type my thoughts out.
-edit- I know all of you are understanding, and say to take my time; and I do appreciate that... but that's not really the issue right now.
I'm almost constantly at work, so by the time I have a day off; I'm totally drained and can barely find motivation to work on anything.
They give me, usually, one day off; then on again.. so I have no time to relax and get in a better mindset to work on art. Or if I do, it barely matters since they schedule me again the next day. :/
I'm not trying to overwork myself; but I am physically not able to take time to decompress anymore. I promise it's not by choice that I force myself to draw, pretty often.

Naturally... Well good luck, still! And if you were planning to just quit...then just quit. Just do it, and don't look back. And if your boss is gonna take a 12 day vacation while you're already understaffed as it is, then that's their problem, not yours!

2022-10-04 03:16:58 +0000 UTCWell, I was going to finally put my foot down today... Spent all morning psyching myself up, only to get there and find out my boss just went on a 12 day vacation :/

2022-10-02 02:53:05 +0000 UTCDo it, seriously. Their lack of hiring competent people is not your problem! I know you're probably not exactly in the best position to leave without something else lined up, but honestly sometimes that's a good way to kick yer own butt into getting something else quickly. And that's not good, you need sleeeeep! D: I really hope the best for you, please keep us posted with whatever you do. We all support you!!! :3

2022-09-22 01:03:20 +0000 UTCSorry; I read this on my phone and forgot to respond to it. But yeah, it's not that they aren't trying to hire more people; it's that the people they 'are' hiring are... ... Lets just say I don't know how some people can function in society. >< And what do you mean HR? There is no HR, cause franchise ^^; But yeah, I'm about to demand three consecutive days off a week; OR I'm putting in my two weeks notice. I can't keep this up for much longer. I get that they need more people; but I need more sleep!! I've slept for maybe 30 hours in the past 7-8 days.

2022-09-22 01:00:52 +0000 UTCThat's pretty much the case, yep. Even if I did want to look for another job, I have no time to do applications because I need to work on art whenever I'm home, lately. Just need to wait till we have more people hired, I guess.

2022-09-18 19:53:46 +0000 UTCIt’s a tough situation, with no real obvious answer. Since I’m amusing you can’t just quit - due to finances or how the home situation would go if you did. At the same time, you’re not being given any flexibility at all to be yourself or do anything you like, because the hours are becoming more and more extreme. Looking for an alternative job would be ideal to change the situation, but that’s quite tough when you’re continuously exhausted from the job you already do
2022-09-10 16:27:01 +0000 UTCOh, well yeah you're definitely not gonna get to do as much art with those hours and still try to sleep. xP But don't let their understaffing/lack of hiring become your problem. I mean, what are they gonna do if you quit? They'd be even more fucked. That actually happened to a local furiend of mine very recently. She had been working more and more hours and getting tasked with more stuff for the same pay. It was getting overwhelming, and management didn't wanna hire anyone else. And she wasn't getting paid very well. A BUNCH of her coworkers were getting fed up with management just not hiring anyone else but pushing more work onto the employees they have. So out of just 7 employees in the entire office: including her, FIVE of them quit. Leaving just the managers or whatever. Not really her problem if management is stingy. But yeah, your manager and coworker having to work 100+ hours a week if you were not scheduled more and more? Not your problem. Maybe she should consider hiring another employee. Because again, you can always say "lower my hours or I'm gonna quit." And as much as I'm sure you don't wanna have NO job without another lined up, is how much I'm sure the manager doesn't wanna have to work 100+ hours, ie. she's probably not gonna fire you for saying no dont schedule me this much. And don't be afraid to contact HR, say that you're getting over-worked and they're refusing to hire additional people. Anyway, good luck! Still hope you can find a different job where you're not being worked to death for shit pay. <3

2022-09-10 15:02:34 +0000 UTCThat's not easy to do, but I'll try Xp And thank you. The job itself has actually been... well, it's harder for things to get to me, now. It's just how often I'm there is my problem with it now... we're understaffed constantly. I work 2-3 more days a week than I'd be comfortable doing both it and art; so... idk. :/ I tried telling my manager "hey, could I please have less days; I have no time for my other job (art)?" And her answer was no, because if she scheduled me any less, she and another coworker would be working 100+ hours a week. For what is supposed to be a part time job. So I do understand why she can't; but it still sucks that, until we get more (good) workers, I basically have to choose between art and sleep Xp
