Floor 19 Sex Scenes (2.14 - 2.20) Rough Animation Process

Hi all!

I thought I'd share with you my process for these bunch of scenes of the final sex sequence. Mixing some 3D and 2D goodness.

As the title says, I'm currently working on the so-called "Rough Animation" phase. This may mean different things depending on who you ask to but for me it's the phase in which I block out the main timing, poses and movements of the scene. Still may have some frames missing and not every part of the characters are fleshed out but it's a great base to work with in order to focus on more details in the next phase (The Tie-In).

First of all, for this rough phase I like to animate these 3D dummy characters with some mods in order to solve the speed of movements, perspective of big shapes and general flow of the animation. I love 3D animation as much as 2D animation so I have to keep myself from over-animating these dummies since I will work on the actual final animation with drawings. These are just to block out the general movements.

In combination with some good references (some self-made, others taken from footage or other animations and art) this makes the initial rough animation a faster process than it would take me if I animated from scratch. I'd rather have those sexy scenes as fast as possible than breaking my head figuring out perspective and placement of big shapes for my poses. Though I'd not recommend that as a substitute of learning those things if you haven't already. 

You'll notice I have different planes set for the different shots in order to re-use the same 3D animation. This is a great workflow that I have only found possible with Blender's Grease Pencil. It's a tool that I have fallen in love to.
