I believe it was partly inspired by He Man so that would explain the resemblance :)

For any curious, the three characters shown are (from left to right): Maya -- The dark-haired tan beauty is a former Slave saved by Thune. She now accompanies him on his travels. Thune Darr -- (It's two words) ;) The wandering warrior. His village was wiped out by slavers and he's trying to locate any surviving members. Ara'el Ona'ne -- The Sylvan (A Venusian Elf). She was captured by slavers and freed by Thune. Subsequently she became his mate and now aids him in his quest.
