There's an artist that two friends of my parents had a few prints of hanging in their kitchen when I was a kid. I can't remember his name now, but I know I looked him up pretty recently... I have to find him again, because his artwork captivated me then and has stuck around in my imagination since. The prints in my parents' friends' kitchen showed a couple different scenes of vegetables with arms and legs: potatoes escaping from a shopping bag, and a group of vegetables lounging in a bowl of dip. This drawing is my own interpretation of a scene like that: a group of hot pot ingredients having a nice dip in two flavors of broth. Hopefully a little cute, and a little unsettling.
