Consideration of Tier Changes: Asking for Feedback!
Added 2018-02-12 21:59:36 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
Let me start by saying this post could lead to changes to the rewards and tiers here, and I'm making this specifically to get feedback from you all first. So if you care much about the rewards, this post is a bit important.
So here's my dilemma: I do not feel as though all the reward tiers are getting equal attention or their money's worth, especially past $5; the higher tiers
Specifically I refer to rewards that can only be sent out when a new video is released. Like the $10 asset packs or your name being listed at the end of videos past $2.
I personally feel rather bad that I can't deliver much of those, despite charging monthly. My videos are quite far apart these days so those rewards are hardly ever sent out.
The other thing (and this only applies to currently 4 patrons) the top tier custom coffee mugs are a point of concern now too. Physical rewards are fun to do, but they are incredibly time consuming for just myself to handle. I do all the creation, packing, and shipping myself and it becomes difficult to find the time.
FEEDBACK TIME
Now that everything's been put into some context, I'm gonna ask for some feedback or suggestions. Answer which ever questions you want or answer none and make a comment about any other concerns you have.
- Do you feel like per-video rewards have a place in this monthly campaign, considering how far apart each video is?
- How would you like stickers to replace coffee mugs as a physical reward?
- Do you think the Discord server can be used in a more effective way. If so, what do you think we should do with it?
- At your tier, are you getting the kind of rewards you expected. If not, how can I improve?

Hi! I'm your doppelganger!
2018-03-20 23:59:24 +0000 UTCI like some of these ideas. A monthly update video or something could be great if I could discover an editing format I like. I also wanna add more GIFs, for sure. Only problem there is that all of my projects right now are in pre-production. Just storyboards and scripts. Not much to gif there, but I definitely wanna pick it up more once the animation starts. Thanks for the input!

2018-02-22 18:54:55 +0000 UTCThese are ideas of mine. - Would T-Shirts be hard? Possibly something simple with "Baker's Assistant" and a character? Or with stickers if easier to a reward below Assistant? - Maybe for the $2 - $5 range you could post an exclusive occasional update video, even if it is brief? I read some of the comments on here and noticed you said that you felt they wouldn't be interesting, but if a fan pledges a certain amount per month I would feel they would be curious what you are up to. :) - For frequent content perhaps GIFs? They are short, fun to use/watch/express with and some are used from content already made. Perhaps you can create new GIFs, or go through some of your already made projects and add bottom text in a 3-4 second reel. These are some ideas I had, but of course it is up to you what you feel you should do, I hope it helps. :)

2018-02-21 12:19:23 +0000 UTCI may more for support, but I think maybe having a better managing system for new patrons will help, I was $2 for 2 months at some point and I was in no credits, so maybe getting an email for new patrons that could sort everything out (Like an email they send info to, like credited name and stuff) so yeah

2018-02-13 20:09:04 +0000 UTCI find it difficult to provide much feedback as far as reward tiers are concerned because of the way I use patreon. Usually I'll pay whatever I feel like paying, and from that point onward as long as I receive updates every so often I'm happy. I might be in the minority here though, so beyond saying "I'm happy with what I'm getting" I'm not sure what else to tell ya. Sorry man

2018-02-13 15:11:41 +0000 UTCAs long as you keep making videos that I enjoy I'll support you. Yes, the rewards are a great perk but I'm sure a lot of us support you because we enjoy your content. If you feel you need to slow down or even just stop the time consuming perks like the mugs that's fine. I love your art and I will still support you even if the only time I see the art is as part of your videos. That's what we're really paying for, we all want to be a part of your videos even if it's only in a small way with an acknowledgement at the end of the videos we helped you to make with our donations. No matter what you choose, I'll still remain a $50 supporter all because of just how much I love you're videos. Keep on rocking

2018-02-13 15:10:09 +0000 UTCHey if you can't do the mugs I'm ok with it, don't kill yourself over it. Not a fan of stickers. I'd rather you just keep the money yourself. Personally I started donating to you because let's face it we all get caught up in a routine. That's just part of life, so it's nice to lose yourself especially in something like your creative animations. For me I just want you to keep going, learning, and producing things I can become overly obsessed with to smile through the week. Thank you for opening up a discussion for tier rewards, but note that i (personally) don't donate for the perks but just to get a good laugh whenever you have the time for it.
2018-02-13 03:33:58 +0000 UTCWhat about a podcast/drawing thing where you just draw your animations and chat over it. It's in line with what you do, without heavy editing.
2018-02-12 23:15:05 +0000 UTCA weekly update could be cool. With a bit of editing and cinematography people could get a more in depth experience of how a project is put together. Kinda like Crown Prince's series Scribble Kibble.
2018-02-12 23:01:25 +0000 UTCI've been on the search for months for content I can make more frequently that is easy, entertaining, and fits my standard of production quality. I think updates would lack in the entertaining side, so I've ruled those out. And honestly trying to find all 3 of those things together might be wishful thinking, but I'm still lookin'. lol. What I've been wanting to try more recently is turning fucking around in photoshop into content, because it is easy, fun, and still requires effort so there's something there, but i can't think up a format yet. But yeah, more frequent content is definitely something I wanna do

2018-02-12 22:34:09 +0000 UTC(Idk the animation process but I do edit videos and do voice overs so not 100% sure at this point if I'm making any sense here ^^')
2018-02-12 22:31:37 +0000 UTCMaybe try taking inspiration from 5 second films. The jokes say all they need to say in a short amount of time. They're simple and easy to understand as well as appeal to a large audience. Good writing does not mean a long story, but a clever concept said in as little words as possible.
2018-02-12 22:30:55 +0000 UTCman i just tried to write another skim milk type thing but it ended being 8 pages long and it's storyboarded out to be about 5 minutes. lol. It's hard to crank those things out just because Im focusing on improving my writing too much to keep things simple and fun

2018-02-12 22:23:17 +0000 UTCI'm personally happy with the reward for $10 although if you feel like you don't put out enough videos maybe consider putting out some kind of weekly update or something. As for the discord, I think having it accessible at $1 is great as there's not really a price barrier to it so noone feels like they need to give more to get in.
2018-02-12 22:19:03 +0000 UTCScreenshots would be a good idea at a certain amount. I'd say just do short 20 second animations like the skim milk video from a while ago! Just something to keep the channel going in between larger projects. May also be a good breather when you're feeling a bit burnt out on the project.
2018-02-12 22:14:29 +0000 UTCFor sure I don't plan on switching the charge to be per video. Animation costs a lot through the production, especially as my stuff is getting more and more crazy complex. It's just hard coming up with rewards that I can release on a regular basis besides screenshots :\

2018-02-12 22:07:38 +0000 UTCHonestly, I feel like the system is fine, but the spread between videos might definitely affect those who get per-vid rewards, so I say remove it or change it to fit the new style

2018-02-12 22:07:18 +0000 UTCI personally like the monthly charge as opposed to the per video charge due to the fact that it is easier to budget for, and it keeps you going in between projects.
2018-02-12 22:05:46 +0000 UTCI think the per-video charge would be a great move. --I'm just poor tho lol
