In the moonless depths of Crystal Lake’s woods, Kait stumbled through the underbrush, shivering, her breath fogging in the frigid air. She’d fled her campsite after hearing heavy boots crunching closer, but now the forest was too quiet. Her heart pounded as she glanced back, seeing nothing but shadows. Then, a wet thunk—pain seared through her chest. Jason Voorhees’ spear burst through her sternum, impaling her from behind. She gasped as his hulking silhouette loomed, silent and unyielding. The spear twisted and Kait’s scream faded into the endless night.
