It was genius actually since we get to see the genuine reactions of the girls on certain circumstances presented to them. Looking back on NingNing's diary, she stopped writing in 2017 which was 6 years into the present time. The girls didn't know they got d-worded and was just waiting for their mom the whole time, thinking they were just playing hide and seek. It was all funny at first but the sad ending gave me literally chills!
