Discussing PS6, XBOX Magnus, UE5 Performance, Zen 6, Nova Lake w/ Bryan Heemskerk (Guest Telegrams)
Added 2025-09-12 21:23:27 +0000 UTCThe next episode of Broken Silicon will see us once again joined by Bryan Heemskerk - Art Director at Massive Damage, Inc! For those who missed his other episodes - he can speak to ANYTHING regarding game development, computer hardware, and scaling performance! Obviously we plan to talk about Next-Gen consoles, GPUs, and CPUs - but remember that he can discuss anything you would want a guest to discuss on this show, so please don't hesitate to submit whatever you want for consideration.
You have ~48 hours to submit, but it would be appreciated if you got them in by Saturday night. :)

Hey Tom and Bryan. We've heard that Nintendo is barely shipping out dev kits to game developers. It seems like Nintendo wants to build its own ecosystem where the switch mainly consists of 1st party games. Why would they ever want this? Doesn't this just mean they make less money? Especially since historically the success of their consoles seems to be tied to whether or not they get 3rd party adoption. Thanks!

2025-09-14 20:35:15 +0000 UTCHey Bryan, UE5 obviously has performance problems, it is so known for the performance problems that it almost seems like fundamental changes need to happen to the engine. Could they possibly develop a new engine that could use the same ecosystem but be specifically for hitting better frame rates? So in summary a UE5 Quality and UE5 performance variants with some possible interplay.
