Discussing "Stop Killing Games" w/ Ross Scott

The next episode of Die Shrink will us be joined by Ross Scott, creator of the Stop Killing Games movement! This is being conducted this week, with plans to drop a CDY or short from it as well publically, to gin up support right before the July 31st deadline for petition signatures!

This will be a very open-ended conversation where we'd love to take questions from you all regarding this, and feel free to throw in some usual questions too. You have ~16 hours to submit (until noon-ish on Tuesday).

I foresee a very different out come to this than Ross does. I predict that games will be forced to pick between being a good and a service, rather than being able to exist in this current Grey area we benefit from. I bet online games start to come with a number of allowed hours, probably really high, like 300+ and any microtransaction you buy gives you more hours. They could even do this purely visually and have no real system behind it, and it would be impossible to tell. I think this dichotomizes games into picking goods or services, which isn't good for anyone (pun intended)

Assuming this gets passed, are you actually "hitting them where it hurts" in a useful way? You're making it "safer" to give money to companies like ubisoft. IMO, making it safe to support some companies is a way worse option than just not supporting bad companies, especially considering no one is going to be seriously hurt if they can't buy the latest "climb tower and mark map" simulator from ubisoft. If people ACTUALLY stopped buying ubisoft games, maybe they would have to change top brass and get someone else in there, but with a new law to follow all they have to do is release the bare minimum of "playable" and nothing else changes
