XBOX has Fallen, PlayStation is Dominant, Nintendo is Weird (Die Shrink Telegrams)
Added 2025-06-25 21:21:56 +0000 UTCI (Tom) just can't stop thinking about how much is likely about to change in console competition over the next 5 years due to PlayStations utter dominance, XBOX effectively giving up on the console race, and Nintendo basically refusing to directly compete with PlayStation...how did we get here? What will next-gen look like?
Anything involving console hardware and economics is fair game for a submission below! Let's all just openly talk about the state of the gaming market, how we got here, and where we are going...

How much do you think the console strategy change for Xbox is driven by a genuine desire to create new marketshare and offering a different expansion strategy away from a domain in which they have faltered significantly since the Xbox One era, and how much do you feel it is simply moving towards a model that reflects where their current smaller existing customer base is? For me it is a question of forward thinking ingenuity in which those who favour Xbox as a brand and their decision making as positive, or is it the Xbox pessimist's view which is more accurate they are shrinking towards where their shrinking demographic already exists. I personally favour the latter, and it is not out of a hostile attitude towards Xbox as a meaningful gaming brand, which I have loved and invested in for years and owned multiple Xbox consoles in multiple generations (I love system link in particular), but I am personally hostile to the MBA style managerial style that has come from Microsoft as a whole into the Xbox domain, cheers. I know, too wordy, if you take the question feel free to rephrase in a much shorter way!
