Concerning Ants; A Discussion on Entomology

You see, ants have a very particular social order, and some incredibly unique means to ensure things stay structured as they should.
And I want to explore what we can learn from things like the slave maker ant, the ant queen, and more.

2024-11-10 05:34:56 +0000 UTCYeah it's a bit surprising that ants built an actual system of oppression like that but I guess it doesn't take the most advanced brain to do that... π also I read somewhere that wasps workers (female) actually bully the males by shoving them into cells so they eat less (I guess so they don't eat the larvae's food?), basically living an oppressive female supremacist utopia. Imagine being a dude and just getting shoved into a locker by your sisters all the time or something π I guess there's reasons wasps are so hated!

But hey, it's YOUR fantasy, so feel free to romanticize what you like! Anyway, slavemaker ants brutally go to war on another species of ants and kidnap their pupae then turn those into their slaves. Obligate slavemaker ants are so bad at childrearing that they actually NEED the slaves from another species to raise their kids. And the slaves sometimes engage in infanticide, probably because they are instinctively incentivized to do that because by doing that their relatives are less likely to get killed or enslaved... I personally view it as a cautionary, tragic tale of what slavery done wrong can do in nature. But despite my gripes, you are still my Queen and I'd love to get crushed by your boot! Loved the file even if I don't approve of slavemaker ants.
