I really loved your discussion after episode 10. It is incredibly satisfying to see both of you trying to figure out motives of characters, what they want or what are they pursuing. It only makes me appreciate writing of this story much more.
Regarding a story with revenge plot in which lead characters 'succeed' in taking revenge, my mind went to John Wick series starring Keanu Reeves.
Wick is ultimate embodiment of taking matters in your own hands (private acts of revenge). And by doing so he keeps escalating situation further and further.
And I do think revenge can feel empirically satisfying to lot of people. It does not necessarily makes one 'evil' person, it's just a human thing. And humans are complex beings. Moral arguments against it is of course a different conversation just as you both mentioned.
In the current day and age we are being governed by institutions, laws which tend to primarily impose 'justified punishment' in form of imprisoning or fining wrongdoers rather than allowing victims/survivors to take revenge themselves.
And of course Prison systems have also been opposed by well articulated and argued positions by abolitionists.
