Hi you, today I want to tell you a little more about the new song which is gonna come out soon - these were the cover art options I had in mind when I thought about its atmosphere. I like every single one of them a lot, which made it hard to decide, but in the end I'm very happy with the one I chose. Who doesn't want to read a whole paragraph about why's and why not's, can simply follow this link and see the result, cheeky I know :) https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/agnesverano/i-was-a-dreamer
In the beginning I was super sure, that I'd take the second one - the half-portrait-close-up. I like my eye (haha) there, the colours, how the sunlight hits and also find it quite special that it's just half of my face. But honestly, it doesn't match the energy of the song that well, it's too direct, too 'empowered' in some way and not dreamy enough.
The polaroid has a beautiful composition, a very classic portrait, the blue colour is very nice, also my facial expression would fit - but it's way too old and has not enough connection with the song itself or its topic. It was taken long before I wrote the song, in Berlin, which has nothing to do with the sea - which is an aspect that connects all the songs of the album. They all have a water, sea, ocean or blue theme - and I love that about the album.
The forth, blurry picture matches the dreamy and the ocean character perfectly - but it's not blue enough in my opinion. Also it unfortunately has the wrong format, if it'd be more square I might have edited it more blue or reconsidered in general, but it's just too 'vertical', there is not enough sea on the sides to create a nice square frame ;)
Sooooo - I decided for the first one, it's also a bit blurry (I like), there is some blue, some sea in it, it makes a good square & it matches the atmosphere of the song (you'll see what I mean when you listen to it). And, the cherry on top for me, it kind of reminds me of the newest album cover from Leif Vollebekk's 'Revelation' https://open.spotify.com/album/0db5o1FtmNXhIfxi3gXs51?si=CIL3B9HzTrKVPr9bygFXxw I already recommended it to you & can only repeat myself, I absolutely love it. The image detail, the side-portrait and the slight blur are a bit similar to his; it wasn't on purpose, but I do like that. Do you see it too? :)
I'm so excited about that one - I've worked on this release more than one year by now, so thank you so much for your support! Thank you, really.
All the best, sending you some winter sun from Vienna!
xx
