Important announcement

Some of you might have seen what i posted on Tumblr recently, you can read it here: http://markraas.tumblr.com/post/150692835409/my-hand-has-been-hurting-a-bit-lately-so-i-have

So my hand has been hurting so i'm taking little break from drawing, and of course that means that i don't make in time to make all the requests this month. Also next month, i'm going to change things up, i'm going to raise the popular 5 dollar pledge to probably somewhere around 15-20 dollar. I know it sucks, but i try to spread it out so i have more time to make my non-Overwatch stuff. So right now i'm thinking what i'm going to give to lesser pledges, and if you have any suggestions, i would be glad to hear them.

Of course, if you ever feel that you are not satisfied what you are getting on this Patreon, you can always unsubscribe, totally understandable since it's your money and you should do what you feel best with it.

Thanks for everyone! Remember that today is the last day, and i'm changing things up tomorrow. So i didn't have time to do all the requests, you can just not pay me or you felt like you didn't get enough for your money, that's totally fine. Last day so you might want to think about it.

I / We will try sir. Starting with making some gaming comics and tagging them properly. Thanks again for your insights!

Scott Thong

Yeah, so it's sort of kickstarter. I don't really know anything about that so you might want to ask someone else. But art looks pretty good, so it's more of building that fanbase around it.

Thanks for the insights. Not being an artist myself, I have only just started discovering Tumblr and Patreon. My aim has been to help my friend tide over until he gets back to an income. I'll discuss what you suggest with him and not be impatient to see results! (The crowdfunding project is at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/mint-twists-comic-anthology-manga-book/x/14295939#/ by the way)

I don't know the details what kind of crowdfunding he is making (kickstarter/patreon?) and what kind of comic is it, but i would say that if you want to make money out of comics, you need to have fame. I honestly say that my fame came from making OW stuff, and i was riding in a hype of popular game and kept doing it constantly. Regular updates are also the key, so people think you as reliable content creator. There's probably lot of things that influence if comic becomes popular or not, but just keeping going and focus on getting better and having fun is more important than trying to make buck out of it, if you are at starting point. I'm not really sure how good Twitter is for art sharing, but i have realized that Tumblr is incredible at it, if you are using right tags and post on right time. So at start if you want to make money doing art, i would suggest making fanart commissions, that way you can gather fanbase easier since everyone already likes those popular things you are doing (but i would suggest that you would like those things too you know) and also work on that comic project.

It's okay senpai, instead can I ask your experience and advice? I am helping a friend to crowdfund his comic, but despite a ridiculously low price per page and my constantly spanning Twitter posts, the visits and uptake are so low. I'm kind of depressed -_- What am I missing???

Scott Thong

Well, since you did you can throw your request still, but it might take me a while to do.

Marko Raassina

I took the last $5 slot

Scott Thong

Hope it's just temporary and not the beginning of something more serious. Take all the time you need to keep yourself healthy.

Please give your hand a rest! You should definitely raise the custom requests to at least $20. I pledged to you because I knew the $5/request wouldn't last long. You deserve a lot more, and the demand is there!! I hope your patreon continues to grow more successful. All the best.
