Added 2025-08-16 02:02:01 +0000 UTCI tried coloring with a lighter touch this time. I felt that a more expressive, intuitive coloring style suits my art better than rendering too realistically. When it’s overly realistic, it gives off a kind of heavy, uncomfortable feeling—like putting the finest caviar on an instant meal.
In that sense, the current coloring style of Blue Archive feels well-matched to its art style. However, such a light, clean coloring approach can easily make the artwork look too “light” if there isn’t enough contrast. That’s why I think it’s important to add strong lighting or high-contrast objects as part of the composition. Then again… perhaps that’s true for all kinds of illustrations.
