I spent a lot of time thinking about what makes a captivating illustration. A beautiful face, perspective, spatial depth, and unique ideas all play a role, but I also feel that simply dedicating time to an artwork can be a factor in making it more engaging.
For this piece, I deliberately aimed for a timelapse duration of over 8 minutes. It ended up taking longer than I expected. At a certain point, I felt like there was nothing more to render, and I found myself just staring at the illustration. During this time, I thought about adding petal-like elements floating around Sekoshi.
Since the artwork was somewhat minimalistic in terms of elements, I focused on fully rendering the main subject. I even rendered the line art itself to add realism, though perhaps I went a little overboard.
Still, when I look at the finished piece, I feel satisfied.
