It's would be very cute lore if Nick and Mitch met for the first time at Cheesecake Factory

I’d love to see (the ghost of) Yusong back on the pod someday. I really miss him on these feedbag episodes!

Yeah it’s a tradition that originated in Germany, so it’s big in places that had lots of German immigrants in the 1850’s like PA and the Midwest. My mom would put a pork shoulder in the crock pot with sauerkraut and apple chunks, so good

Laura Beltz

Regional for sure. Didn’t know this was a thing until meeting my bf who is from butler county. Maybe a lot of German immigrants brought it to PA?

I fell down the homemade ice cream vortex once, that’s a dangerous place. Pro tip: blend up some cottage cheese as a base with some blueberries. It’ll get the job done.

Amelia does a great Marge voice (the bit starts around 10:30).

Joe

I always pronounced it "oo-vrah" because that's how Weird Al said it when he rapped "discussing the oeuvre of Mr. Rob Schneider"

Victor

Amelia calling out Timothee Chalamet liking White Castle the week after he appears in an SNL sketch where he talks about eating White Castle is very prescient.

David Tres

Yep, Pittsburgh

Tim S.

sounds great but I've never heard of this as a tradition. Are you from Pennsylvania ?

Evan Morris

Suprised no one mentioned pork/sauerkraut/kielbasa/mashed potatoes as a traditional food on New Years Day. Is this a regional thing?
