Also a vegetarian, I upped to the platinum plate club for the vegetarianism. This podcast will finally become useful too me.

As an unashamed Survivor fanboy, I'd just like to speak on behalf of the show. (Hell the only two Patreons I'm subscribed to are Doughboys, and a Survivor podcast one.) I have been watching Since season 1. 20 years and 40 seasons ago. I am 31, so over half my life Wiger's analogy of 'Lord of the Flies', while used aptly, is still withstanding and should not be dismissed. While people may not literally kill each other, there are some downright raw and real betrayals, kills of the emotional/mental sort. After all, an average of 18 players are in a battle royale type scenario. There is only one winner. One of the biggest and most common misconceptions of Survivor, is due in part to its 'genre'. Yes, it was the birth of the Reality TV Boom that plagues the entertainment industry to this very day. I acknowledge that. But it is now far removed from the 'reality-show' sphere, and in its small niche category that's hard to find equivalent shows that occupy the same space. It is not scripted as Wiger stated. One of the least scripted there is. The Jersey Shores/Housewives/Whathave yous are scripted as they paid as 'actors/entertainers' (not sure the correct term), but they get paid an amount per episode/season to do what is told of them by production. If not down right scripted- they are improv scenarios set up and direction given. In Survivor, it is a categorized as a game show, as it has cash prize winnings. Not 'paychecks' but gameshow winnings. It must adhere by gameshow laws. Yes those exist, due in part(or fully) to the famous 'Quiz Show' riggings in the 50s/60s(check into that stuff, fun movie, interesting stuff). They work similar to gambling/casino laws and regulations. It would be literally illegal for them to script the show. I'll will concede to the fact that there is heavy editing, as is expected; but what is said and done on the island is said and done by the contestants of their own free will. My biggest point of concern is 'production interference' which really only comes down to likes of leading questions that may tip off some of the contestants game plans. Yes, they are starved and sleep deprived which leads to dramatic scenarios. But the real reason they are stripped of everything it leads the contestants to not be able to put up the daily façade that everyone puts up to one degree or another. After the first few episodes, they are them true selves which is rare to see in real life, let alone a TV show. If you try to watch it, the first episodes are a bit more cringe as they are still well fed and rested. But power through and you will be rewarded. There are now 2 seasons out on Netflix. 2 Of the best. I'd suggest anyone interested to check them out. S28 Cagayan might be the better of the two to try, as its full newbie cast. The other, Heroes Vs. Villains, is a returning cast that helps if you are familiar with at least some of the contestants, but is widely considered the best season of all time. Final side note to try to get you to watch. It has now turned into a competition show for anyone that's interested character based narratives. If you are a gamer, and you come into it viewing it through the lens of a real life video game with social manipulation and gameplay. Such as, Among us, or Werewolf/Mafia/games of deception etc. Even Poker or chess would be equivalent as it comes down to bluffing, numbers and thinking steps ahead of your opponent. This is a must watch.

I loved the jokes about that Peloton ad and I'm excited to learn that the actress is chill and has a sense of humor about it
