The Vampire Queen - How I Became The Worlds Last Boss: Chapter 16

Random POV

A sharp pain penetrates the side of his body, startling him awake. His body shot up to a sitting position while taking in his surroundings. For some reason, his lower half of his body was not responsive. No matter how hard he tried to move his legs, they wouldn’t budge. That’s when he notices there is one other person with him, and to his surprise, it is someone he never expected to see again.

“Princess... Princess Arielle?” But how in the world is she still alive? Also, there is a massive hole in the middle of her forehead. He wondered if he was done in by those enormous monsters because there’s no way she would still be alive. Was he also dead? But why was he on some secluded beach with no one else around?

She just sat there, staring down at the man, making him feel a great deal of discomfort. The one he just killed is somehow alive and well.

“So... was it my sister who sent you?” The princess says this with an exacerbated look on her face.

“How are you still alive? Didn’t I kill you?” The man completely admitted his crime to the one he just murdered in cold blood, as if he felt nothing.

“You succeeded in killing me, but you also didn’t escape fate. You were brutally mauled by those two beasts and ripped in half. That must be why you can’t move the bottom part of your body. I see you struggling quite a bit to move.” She had thin lips with a curve on each side, staring at the man.

“But if we were dead, how come I can still move my upper body?” Can an injury follow you to the afterlife? Something doesn’t appear right, he thought.

“Is that even relevant? The least you can do after killing someone is to tell me why I had to die." Her arms cross as she looks down on the man, expecting him to answer her question.

“You should know! Your sister is quite the crazy bitch. She believes this world is hers, and you took one of her possessions. She was the one who loved the Crown Prince of the Trothia Kingdom.”

“Are you saying I had to die just because of this engagement, and my sister got jealous she wasn’t chosen?” The princess lets out a long sigh.

“That’s right; you should have turned it down! Do you have any idea how crazy she is? I’m sure you probably don’t because she always puts up an act in front of you.”

“Did the king know anything about this?”

She just referred to her father as king instead of daddy. It’s widely known that the first Princess Arielle was extremely cherished by the king, who always treated her kindly. In return, she would always act like a kid while around him. Always calling him Daddy and being immature. She was an extremely spoiled child and got whatever she wanted. Princess Arielle would never call him king or your majesty.

“Are you truly the princess?” The man looks at her skeptically. “I really can’t understand what’s going on here. I’ve somehow arrived at a beach out of nowhere after being attacked. The person I killed greets me once I wake up.” Something is not right here!

“Well… I guess that’s fine. You have given me enough information to get some kind of idea of what’s going on in the Burgess Kingdom. It sounds like that place is being run from the shadows by this second princess, and the king doesn’t stop it. The king is also most likely unaware of these current circumstances to kill off his daughter. So I assume fireworks will happen in Burgess once that fact is known.” It sounds like a complete shitshow over there, just like Trothia.

Of course, nobles do noble things. The hypocrisy of someone calling themselves noble and acting the way they do is the biggest joke in the world.

Celestia

I’ve gotten all I can out of him, and it is most likely pointless to continue. I signal Hieko to drop the illusion. The idea of torturing him for information probably wouldn’t have worked, so I took a gamble at a charade. Hieko turned me into the princess, and I conversed with the assassin. She also turned our surroundings into something remote. A kind of afterlife; thankfully, he fell for it at first and gave me the information I was after.

I look over at the man who was now struggling fiercely against Onyx's hand, which was currently smashing his lower body into the ground. It’s pretty impressive that Hieko could put him under such a spell while Onyx literally squashed his lower half.

"Onyx, deal with him!” I have no sympathy for this man, who just killed a most likely innocent princess right in front of my eyes. Even though her personality was unpleasant, it's still the right thing to do.

“You got it, big sister.” With that, I leave it to Onyx’s digression to decide his fate. I’m sure it won’t be pleasant.

As I turn my back to the scene, I hear a loud explosion with a few grunts. My eyes lock with Rhea’s, who is currently looking at me with fear. She starts to run in my direction as I turn around and see the man somehow launching himself into my direction. He lands a few feet in front of me with a pretty twisted expression.

“You think you can leave here alive! I will at the very least kill you for impersonating one of our kingdom's princesses.” How hypocritical of this guy, who just killed the princess he speaks of! What kind of nationalism or pride is this?

His body starts cracking, and light flashes throughout his body. It looks almost like he’s trying to blow himself up or something. Could this actually hurt me with my strength? I look at him with some uncertainty, as I’ve never actually taken a hit in this world, and I have no idea what I can actually handle.

That’s when I was grabbed from behind and pulled into a tight hug as Rhea spun me around one hundred and eight degrees, most likely to try and take the brunt of the impact. At the same time as she pulled me into an embrace, we both locked eyes, and I saw her star-like pink eyes shining brightly.

A swoosh sound followed by an intense buzz was heard next as a very clear film stretched out over Rhea and myself. As the bubble-like formation over both of our bodies was completed, I felt an extremely warm feeling. As if her emotions were being used to cover our bodies. Is this some kind of barrier power?

As the guy keeps getting more and more dangerous, an extremely ominous sound starts to radiate from his body as he grows in size. Hieko then wraps all nine of her tails around Rhea and me. Onyx and Rollo stand in front of us to take on the frontal hit of the blast.

You might be wondering why Onyx doesn’t just throw away the body. But for some reason, a strong field is currently around him, and Onyx can’t reach the man. He keeps getting backlash as he tries to grab him, while Rhea and Hieko were making sure I was safe. In the end, everyone put themselves in between me and the crazy bastard.

There’s no way anyone will get hurt, right? Please, Goddess Noah, don’t let something bad happen this early on in my journey. Rhea was currently shaking in fear and, at the same time, making me pretty nervous with her expressions.

That’s when everything goes white as a massive boom shatters all our surroundings. Within the bubble-like structure Rhea created, it was pretty peaceful, besides feeling each other’s hearts beating a mile a minute.

After the initial white world ended after about ten seconds, I could see our current surroundings. Onyx was still standing strong in front of us, while Rollo was pushed back a good thirty feet behind our location. Hieko still had us balled up within her tales, which she pulled into her chest and curled around our bodies. The barrier structure Rhea created wasn’t breached, and both of us were completely unscathed. The land around us was devastated.

“Celestia…” Rhea cried out as she was still shaking in fear of our current circumstances.

“It’s alright, Rhea. Thanks to your barrier-type magic and everyone else, we seem to be unharmed. It looks like Onyx took the brunt of the massive explosion.” I caress Rhea’s back to try and reassure her that everything is alright.

“I thought I might lose you!” Rhea says this with tears in her eyes.

“Don’t worry, Rhea; something like this can’t kill me. At least I don’t think so.” I was completely unsure if I could have actually taken that blast head-on. While I know I’m strong and my body is more powerful than a human, there’s a chance I could be considered a glass cannon in the monster world.

As I calm down Rhea, I notice her magic start to dissipate as Hieko releases our bodies from her tails. They had all turned into their true forms to combat the explosion, so I assume they could all tank it without any problem. None of them look any worse for the wear, but it did give us quite the scare. Obviously, I’m not used to these kinds of situations. Lessons learned for the future.

Never turn your back on an enemy that isn’t dead yet. It could cost your life! After a quick once-over of everyone’s body, we all make our way back home. Tomorrow is the big day; I will finally enter and begin creating new species who will become my people in the future. I didn’t go directly into the cradle after my meeting with the goddess because I wanted to learn some creation magic before I entered.

It was probably a better decision to learn about my power of creation before going through with it. I’m sure a mistake is not something I want to happen. Of course, little did I know that someone was already waiting for me within the cradle to help me.

The next day…

I stand in front of the cradle with Rhea, Hieko, and Mila present. All of them are on high alert because of what the cradle will do to my body. I heard that it would take a lot out of me to actually use the cradle. So here’s to hoping everything goes well!

How am I even supposed to refer to the new existences I’m about to create? In some way, isn’t this kind of like becoming a mother? Aren’t I, in essence, about to give birth to new races and start populating the world with them? So weird to think I will be a kind of mother to many different types of species. It’s also pretty cool!

Rhea and I have a deep, wet, sloppy kiss before I enter the cradle. I pat Hieko and Mila on the head as I make my way into the crystal-clear water, heading towards the falls. I take one last look at the massive tree-like pods on both sides of the area. My only assumption is that this is where they will actually be created and birthed.

It’s such a weird feeling as I once again go under the falls. My hair doesn’t even feel wet, as if the water just bounces right off my body. I’m pretty happy about that because one of the annoyances I’ve found about being a girl in this new life is drying my hair.

With such thoughts, I entered the white room. To my surprise, someone was already waiting for me. I thought she said something about how we wouldn’t speak again for a while after our last interaction.

“Hello, Celesta~” Goddess Noah had a cutesy tone to her voice.

“Good to see you again, Goddess Noah, or should I say hear you?” I said, as I’ve never actually seen her face.

“Don’t worry, the next time we meet, I will show you my appearance.”

“Really… I look forward to it, but why can’t you just show me now?” She’s sure being secretive about her appearance. It’s almost as if I would recognize her or something.

“You’re not completely wrong with your thinking, Tia, but please just trust me. All will be explained on your next visit. I’m sorry to say, though; it will be a long five years from now.” The goddess says it with a sad tone.

“What five years? Also, did you just call me Tia?” The goddess already has a nickname for me.

“Yes, the cradle can only be used once every five years. The birth and growth rates of the first generation will be greatly increased. It will decrease with every subsequent generation. Also, of course, I thought up a nickname for you. Tia, you’re much more important to me than you can ever imagine. But I will get more into that next time. I don’t want to involve myself with your life any further for now.”

“Hmm, ok… I guess I have to wait to find out the secret. Tia doesn’t sound too bad, I guess, but you know Rhea would get super jealous of you, right?” I asked, with a bit of intrigue, what Rhea’s response would be. Jealous Rhea is enticing because I just get to receive even more love from her. She just tends to cling even more, so it’s a great gift.

“You don’t have to worry about that, Tia. I don’t view you in a romantic light, but more in a familial way. Aren’t I like your mother in a way because I did bring you to this world?” The goddess suggests.

With that, I felt someone come from behind and hug me tightly. When I tried to turn around, my head was completely stuck in place, not able to move at all. I guess she really doesn’t want me to see her yet.

“Umm… Goddess Noah…” I said with a yelp as she hugged me. Her body feels extremely warm as I feel her head lay itself on my shoulder. Her arms were wrapping around my midsection. I saw her white, porcelain-like hands when I glanced down.

“I’m sorry; Tia, but I just can’t show myself yet. Please, at least give me this much. You have no idea how long I’ve waited for the day you would finally arrive.”

I couldn’t help but feel a tight feeling around my heart, as if I were missing something. Goddess Noah was also sending a lot of emotion into me, and my body felt as if it were on fire. It wasn’t the feeling I would get with Rhea, but more like something I had lost.
