The Vampire Queen - How I Became The Worlds Last Boss: Chapter 15

After my declaration, I looked into the eyes of everyone currently gathered, minus the crying girl. They all had looks of admiration as they understood this was the start of something great! To serve a true master is something everyone here wanted. That’s at least the feeling I got from them with how they all looked at me with determined faces.
I stand there and watch as the girl forces her body up after the horrific situation she just experienced. Is this a noble pride? She refuses to be looked down upon, even though her wobbly legs can barely support her weight. The dress she was wearing was now all in tatters, but anyone could still tell just how expensive it was. With her now at eye level, I decide to begin our conversation.
“Who are you? Why have you entered our territory?” My tone is extremely chilly to get the point across; I’m not messing around with her.
“You will die for what you’ve done today!” Once again, she speaks nonsense, as if we would actually care about her words.
“Yes… yes… Now answer my question, or I will have Onyx give you a second flight. This time, no one will catch you. Make up your mind if you don’t want to die.”
The girl slowly turns towards the giant ape; I just pointed too. She clearly had an extremely pale face, most likely reliving what just happened a few minutes ago.
‘Big sister, just say the word, and I will teach her how to fly.’ Onyx says, making sure the noble girl also heard him, his loud, obnoxious laugh bursting out once again.
“Fine…” She takes a deep breath with crossed arms. “I’m the first Princess of the Burgess Kingdom, and all of those men you just murdered were my procession to the royal capital of Trothia. I was meant to marry the future king." After her declaration, she gives a smirk. “Now do you all understand what you just did? Killing royal guards and interrupting a marriage between two kingdoms! You’re all screwed!”
She gave off a maniacal laugh, as if she had completely lost her marbles. But something here wasn’t making any sense. Why would these royal soldiers dress in obvious casual gear and not some royal official armor representing their kingdom?
“Why should I care?” I look at her with a solemn face. The girl instantly shut her mouth and looked at me with a dumbfounded face.
“You will now have two kingdoms after you! Don’t you get it?” She said it with a huff.
That’s when everyone but the noble girl burst out into loud laughter, as if no one here had a care in the world. The look on her face was priceless as it twisted and scrunched up. It was like she just smelled the worst thing in her life. The utterly bewildered expression on her face propelled the laughter even further into a manic episode.
“Don’t any of you care about your life? Everyone here will die!” She was still holding resolutely to her beliefs, trying to yell over everyone’s laughter.
“Ha-ha... Princess, do you actually know where you’re at right now?” Trying to recover my composure, I said, “There would only be one reason you would have come this close to our territory. I’m sure they never meant for you to actually make it to Trothia. You’re most likely a sacrifice to bring in the Kingdom of Burgess to support Trothia in the probable war against us.” I look at her with a pitying look.
“What? But how could something like that be true? I’ve done everything my father ever asked; he would never use me as a sacrifice!” The poor girl is in complete denial of her current situation and the fact that her life is nothing more than an offering to start a war.
Nobles never disappoint with their conspiracies. There are multiple ways this can be true, but the most obvious is that Trothia has infiltrated Burgess with spies. They could have manipulated the path to Trothia to cause them to enter our territory, provoking us to kill her.
Her father could also not care about her well-being and be using her to bring the kingdom to war against us. Using my existence as a new demon lord to gather more land for his own selfish ambitions and claim our territory before Trothia. Nobles are always the best opportunists and will crush anyone in their way! There could even be a third option I have not even thought about because I don’t even know anything about these kingdoms.
I start wracking my brain, going through as many plotlines as possible of stories with nobles from my past life. My two previous theories seem to hold the most water, but there is no way to know for certain. At some point in the future, we really need to have people infiltrate these places. So we know what’s going on!
Also, why now? This land has remained dormant for thousands of years, with humans never daring to approach it. The only difference is that I had Hieko completely destroy the entire black tar forest left over from the previous demon king with her fire. Then some fairies repopulated the area with new plant growth to once again turn it into a beautiful forest.
I chose to make my first initial house near the lake, which had an ugly sight within its view. So the only possible option was to destroy it. This, in turn, would make the area much more valuable and desirable to own. But how in the world did they even find out so fast and already have a plan in place? Am I just over thinking it too much, or are all my theories completely wrong?
Well, whatever… It’s not like I can stop them from eventually attacking us in the future. Let’s get back on track and stop thinking about what-ifs! My mind really does work a mile a minute, once I suspect something.
"Well, of course I can’t say anything for certain, but I’m sure you have seen something out of place recently.” My eyes are following her every action, and the way she just turned away slightly tells me something is possibly amiss. “It’s in your best interest not to be some naive princess right now and think about how you will survive in this situation. Do you know how fast your life could end right now?”
The princess just stood there silently for a long time, while we all watched on in anticipation for her next words. I can only assume she’s going through all her recent interactions, checking if anything has stood out.
It’s really too bad. I’m not a normal type of vampire with the ability to turn anyone to my side with a simple bite. But to turn someone I have no feelings for is impossible. Now that I already know how permanent such a decision would become, I just can't do it.
“You know, there might be something I noticed." She takes a big, deep breath, as if finally coming to a decision. “My sist…” At this moment, she suddenly stops talking and falls face-first into the ground. She made no attempt to brace herself from impact; she went completely limp. A flash of light in the distance catches all our attention.
“Rollo, Onyx, find out what or who that was! Bring whoever it is back alive; we must find out what’s going on!” I command quickly to not let whomever or whatever it was run away. They both turn serious and destroy the ground below them, propelling themselves in the direction of the enemy.
Looking down at the body, I kneel next to it as Rhea does the same on my side.
“Celestia, I think she’s dead.” Rhea whispers in my ear as we both look at a circle-type wound located in the back of her head that is currently smoking. As I studied the hole, I couldn’t help but sigh. We just missed out on an opportunity to find some useful information about this world. Now, I can only hope Onyx or Rollo catch the executioner. Also, was this some type of magic gun or a magic ability?
“That’s really too bad; she was just a victim. I never planned on actually killing her, and I was going to let her go once she talked. Damn those bastards, who always have to use innocent people for their stupid games.” I lean to my side, laying my head on Rhea’s shoulder. Her arm goes across my back as she starts to caress it. Hieko is currently scoping out our surroundings for any further possible threats.

Random POV
The executioner, seeing two massive beasts start charging in his direction, quickly jumps down from the tree he was perched atop. He had received an important item from his contractor in case of a situation like this. While no one had ever actually seen the beasts of legend, they believed there were dangerous threats in the long-forsaken land.
The threat was much too high to ever travel here without a heavy guard, and it was also a very reliable place for assassinations. Anyone who has ever traveled deep into that territory would never be seen again. Until recently, a certain amount of this area was completely covered in disgusting black sludge and was completely uninhabitable for humans. Somehow it just disappeared into thin air over night, and a lush forest of green now inhabits the area.
Deploying the special artifact the man was given, he blended perfectly into his surroundings, as if no one was there at all. The massive downside is that he was unable to move, or the state of perfect camouflage would be broken. His hope was that both beasts would run past his current location, and he could then run in the opposite direction.
Sadly, neither the giant ape nor the wolf fell for the priceless artifact's ability that was given to him by the royal family of the Burgess Kingdom. He was told that under no circumstances could Princess Arielle survive her journey into the dangerous forest. If unforeseen circumstances arise, he is duty-bound to kill her on the spot. The fake soldiers, also known as mercenaries, will be the witnesses to her untimely death.
But those legendary beasts just had to show up, and they even had a leader. She was even trying to get information out of the princess, so her death was now assured. If only these damn monsters hadn’t shown up, we could have rid ourselves effortlessly of this damn princess. Instead, he was now standing here as silently as possible, while two huge monsters breathed heavily over him. They were showing no signs of not knowing where his current location was.
‘Human, it's best for you to show yourself now before I allow Onyx here to go crazy ripping up this area to find your location.’ Rollo said it with contempt in his voice.
'Rollo, stop being so stiff; just let me pound the ground a bit. I’m sure the intruder will either give up in an instant or become fertilizer.’ The giant ape gives a snort as he pounds his chest with a roar, waiting in anticipation of the intruders showing themselves.
The man, who was still hiding himself as silently as possible, is now completely beside himself with fear. His body was in a constant state of vibration as he was having trouble controlling his trembling. He was pretty confident they knew right where he was and were just messing with him. This whole time, they were circling his location while giving him sharp glares. Are they just toying with me? Like playing with their food or something?
After about a minute of eyeing their prey and giving him hope that he was actually fooling them, Onyx got bored and swiped at the man. With him in his grasp, there was also a small crunch sound, as if something had just shattered. The culprit finally came to light, as both Onyx and Rollo saw him clearly.
Onyx tightened his grip a bit on the man to give him a bit more fear. He put his face up to him and opened his mouth wide, giving a loud roar. The breath of a wild animal can’t be too great, and this man was getting a full experience of what it would smell like. Within a matter of a few seconds, he passed out cold.
‘Your big mouth is finally good for something.’ Rollo commented.
‘That’s mean, Rollo, I will tell my big sister about you!’ Onyx starts giving a pitying look at the wolf.
‘You should show more respect to Master and stop calling her your sister. We’re not on her level, and we never will be. Have you forgotten who her mother is? What do you think she would say with you calling her daughter, sister?’ The true identity of Celestia’s mother is known to all terrors, as she is also someone they all greatly respect.
‘Pff, I don’t think she would mind.’ Onyx was resolute on what he wanted to call his master and saw no issues with it.
‘Well, suit yourself, Onyx. I hope you don’t come to regret your actions someday.’
At that moment, Hieko shows up, bringing Celestia and Rhea on her back. Now the question arises: would any of them be able to get any useful information from the culprit, or will this whole situation just be a massive waste of time? In the worst-case scenario, this was a great learning experience for everyone involved.
