The Vampire Queen - How I Became The Worlds Last Boss: Chapter 3

Celestia

I stayed in that position for a good fifteen seconds before I saw her eyes start to roll back in her head, then release. There was no way I would allow her to die off with such an easy death for the way she treated me.

Ugh

Wail

Tears start falling from her eyes as she tries to catch her breath. She then looked up at me with a hateful glare and made it very obvious she would never let this go.

While looking down on her, “I can already tell by the look on your face about the retaliation you’re planning. You better think twice before making another mistake. What I just did to you was very tame compared to the torture you have put me through.” After staring her down for a good minute, I casually sit back down on my side of the carriage and cross my legs.

“YOU BITCH!!! JUST YOU WAIT UNTIL I TELL FATHER AND MOTHER ABOUT THIS. Just you wait!” She drew her hand back as if to slap my face, but paused before going through with it. There was no way she didn’t just realize how much stronger I am, and it would be a horrible idea to retaliate right now. Caroline sat back down with indignation at her current situation as she stayed quiet and kept a very sharp glare on me for most of our trip to the academy.

The next four daunting hours seemed to last forever as no one talked, but now and then I would see an evil smirk come from Caroline. I can only imagine what brainless idea she’s coming up with to get back at me. Also, with her already being in the academy for two years, there are probably already a lot of people against my existence in that place.

After waiting in the carriage line for about thirty minutes, we finally got to the front of the school, so I decided to give her one final warning. It would be a much better experience at this school if she would just leave me alone.

“It will be in your best interest to leave me alone while we're in the academy. If you do, I won’t bother you either. But if you decide on making my life harder, I will show you what true despair feels like.” I stared at her intently before leaving the carriage. The face she was currently making was priceless at just how much she wanted to rip me apart.

Surprisingly, she didn’t say a word back after my final comment, so I just continued on my way into the school. I’m not looking forward to dealing with a bunch of snobbish noble kids, and I will probably have a lot of issues. Once I got off the carriage, a lot of eyes were directed towards me, and I really hated it. The lust-filled gaze of the men and the jealousy of the women. I wonder if I have some kind of glamour effect with how severe all their stares currently are.

At the same time, no one even dares to come within my orbit and just watch as I walk into the academy. As I enter, I marvel at how amazing the building is. It looks more like a castle than a school, with many floors and multiple towers all around. The floor was covered in marble, and the walls were aged stone, but they had a new feel to them.

To the left of the front entrance, there seems to be a training ground for magic, with multiple spells currently being cast. There are all different types of designs and colors as people wave objects in their hands.

“Attention!” A loud voice commands, "All new students must go to the auditorium for magic placement testing. Please proceed in an orderly fashion.”

After the announcement, there were magic arrows in the air pointing in a certain direction. I can only assume this is where I need to go with them showing up right after the voice spoke. As I make my way through a few halls to my destination, I realize just how many people actually go here. All of them had a major staring problem! Once I reach the front entrance of the auditorium, I notice multiple older guys annoying female students as they enter.

“Hey there, beautiful, would you want the honor of being my lady?” Some cocky-looking guy asks, getting up in my face.

I look at him with disgust written all over my face. “I would rather die.” His face contorts with anger as the boys around him start laughing.

I continue past him, not showing any concern for his feelings, but he jumps right back in front of me. “You will regret it; I’m a great catch! My father is one of the richest people on this continent. Any other girl would feel honored to even get my attention, so stop being stuck up.”

“If any girl would be honored, go find them because I couldn’t care less, so please leave me alone.” With a sigh, I walk around him once again.

Of course, the next thing this garbage guy would do is grab my shoulder, refusing to be denied. It was one of the things I hated more than anything when I read light novels. A random guy becomes interested in the female lead and just forces her to heed his will. This usually starts by her denying him, but then when she kept trying to leave, he would grab her arm and not allow it. Unacceptable!

The only way to reply to such an action is with an opposite but equal reaction. I turn around to the smiling idiot and grab his arm, twisting it.

SNAP The sound of the boy's arm was pretty loud, and the gasping of everyone around at my action was also pretty entertaining.

“When someone tells you to leave them alone, that doesn’t mean to try harder. It means fuck off! I hope this will be a great lesson for your future interactions with the opposite sex.” With that taken care of, I go and find my seat with all the dumbstruck faces staring at my back with how violent my retaliation was enacted.

I honestly didn’t mean to break his arm so violently, but I’m not used to this strength yet. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is all I have to say about that guy. As I take my seat and the venue is filled up, an older woman walks up to the podium. All I can say about her appearance is that she has a dark aura about her. Everything she was wearing was black, even her hair.

"Attention, students!” she pauses. “My name is Morgana Le Fey, and I’m the headmaster here at Slasorth Magic Academy. I’m happy to welcome you all to the number one magic school on this continent.” Cheers and applause were blaring all around.

“We’re honored to be named after the first mage and the hero who killed off the demon king over one thousand years ago, Slasorth!” Everyone in attendance cheers at the name of the hero and starts to chant his name. She pauses for the audience to die down. “But on this joyous day when new mages take their first steps into possibly becoming the next Slasorth, I carry bad news. We received an oracle about the awakening of a new demon king. After a thousand years, a new threat has entered our world!

Hmm… was all I could think to myself as my awakening came to mind. But isn’t it kind of insane that I would be this... threat? I mean, aren’t vampires usually subordinate to a demon king? There are a few stories I can remember from my past life that had a vampire leading them. Also, the timing of my awakening and this news are just so on point. At the same time, there’s no way this could mean me. The best way to accept this news would be to live in denial of it.

“I want to encourage all of you to try your best for the battle for our world that will come. It’s now more important than ever to get our mages to a level that can combat the evil that will try to corrupt us all. When your names are called, please come up to the front and place your hand on this orb here. It will give us a rough estimate of the power you hold, and we can adjust your classes to match.” Morgana stops speaking as she scans the audience, stopping on me for some reason and then looking away.

Don’t tell me; she can feel something weird about my body. Maybe I just have a lot of power, and she was curious about my existence. I don’t even know how to control it yet, so I have no way to trick the testing orb. It might be really bad to test off the charts right now. On the other hand, it always annoys me when people in stories hide their strength. It could be beneficial to show people how powerful I am so they leave me alone. That same scenario can also backfire tremendously.

Names started being called to the front while I was having inner turmoil about what might happen if the test showed something weird. There is no guarantee that I’m even a new threat to this world. With how horrible and sheltered my childhood was, I don’t even know what’s out there. Does a new demon king have an existing army somewhere?

Most students who were called up had a magic rating of around two hundred to four hundred, which was considered average. There were a few outliers that were close to a thousand, and everyone had extremely surprised faces at those results. That’s when the name of someone who caught my attention instantly was called up.

“Rhea Caldworth,” I look on as the extremely cute and very timid girl makes her way up to the spherical, clear object to test her magic. She had very soft-looking pink hair down to her chest with ominous reddish or pink eyes. Her stare was very blank, but at the same time, she was holding both her hands up and fidgeting. I just want to cuddle with that girl; she’s so adorably cute. It’s like she was meant to become one of my kin with those reddish eyes. As I watched her place a hand on the object, a high number was given.

“Eight hundred and twenty." Rhea bows to the headmaster and hurries herself off-stage. That’s when people around me start gossiping about her situation.

“I can’t believe Rhea is that powerful, with her being such a disgrace to nobility. Just look at the way she carries herself.” A girl comments

“That’s true. I was also told she was promised to some merchant as a bargaining chip for one million gold coins. The man is three times her age.” The people around me start laughing at the girls circumstances.

“It’s a shame with her talent; she will probably be dead within a year or two after marriage. That merchant has already killed off two of his wives for being too rough. She’s going to have a real bad future with what could have been a very promising mage career.”

Over my dead body is all I could think of after listening to these girls talk shit about Rhea. She’s going to become mine one way or another, and no one is going to stop me.

“Celestia Voltaire.” Everyone around me looks in my direction as I stand and make my way to the orb. I’m hoping for a high score, but at the same time, I'm nervous about what that could mean.

I passed by those same girls who were talking about Rhea. They were gossiping about what a brute I was with the guy I injured earlier. I mean, if they like that asshole so much, go interact with him, but leave that kind of stuff far away from me.

As I approach the spherical orb, my anxiety starts to rise at not knowing what’s about to happen. I place my hand and look up at the projection that would read my magic score. That’s when I heard a crack and noticed the orb had snapped in half, but not before sending a projection of “nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine.”

All the people within the auditorium gasped at once, even the headmaster. The only thing going through my mind was ‘fuck me’. This is probably going to put a big target on myself, and people will wonder why I have so much power.

I turn to the headmaster with an apologetic face and say, "Whoops, is that bad?” with a sheepish smile.
