Notice: Sims 4 Adventures Awaits, but Patches Don't [Adventure Awaits Pre-Patch and Patch Status]

TLDR: Maxis is releasing a big patch today. It’s probably going to break mods. So, if you want to play with your mods during this time, please disable updates!

Later today, September 18th, Maxis will be releasing game patch 1.118.2422 supposedly for the Adventure Awaits Expansion pack which will be released later on October 2nd. As a reminder, it’s the pre-patch which usually breaks mods the most, but sometimes the expansion itself will need an additional patch too. It’s very unusual for maxis to release a pre-patch so far ahead of the actual expansion. Typically it’s just the Tuesday/Thursday before the expansion, but it looks like this time they are doing it two weeks ahead of the expansion. As you can imagine, this makes us all very worried about how damaging this patch will actually be.

But you don’t need to be worried! That’s for your modders to figure out! While it can be difficult to predict how long your favorite mods will be out of commission, it typically takes us (TURBO, Basemental, and me) few hours to about 2 days to release a patch. I’ll be in discord while patching tomorrow for those who want a more up to the moment prediction for how the patch is going, but for those who don’t use discord, I’ll be silently updating this post here as the process progresses, to keep you informed with how the patch is coming.

Again, If you plan to play your modded sims 4 while we are working on the patch, then I highly recommend you disable updates. You can do this by opening the EA app, looking for the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left corner -> Settings -> hit the download tab just below settings (It’s not immediately obvious it’s a tab) then click off update games automatically, I’d probably disable ‘Enable Background Downloads’ just to be safe too. Then hit the 3 horizontal bars again and hit ‘go offline.’ This should prevent the sims 4 from auto-updating while your Mod Authors work on patches for you. If you want to be extra tinfoil, so shiny and chrome, you can disconnect your computer from the internet too, but that’s probably a bit cray cray, but we love things a bit crazy here don’t we?

• It looks like WP survived, but further testing will be needed for expansion specific features. If you don't plan to play with the expansion, I'd say all your mods probably made it through okay!
  

I’ve been more active the last month responding to messages and working on the mod as I continue to rebuild my life. I’m finishing an update which will bring prostitution autonomy to the wider sims world which will be released asap with more released planned for shortly afterwards.
