Final Notice: The Sims 4 Lovestruck is coming for your Mod folder!

TLDR: July 23rd game pre-patch for the new expansion might break a lot of mods! Here’s what you must know!

Oh no, is it that time again? Expansion time! The Sims 4 Lovestruck is coming on July 25th and bringing with it a ton of Woohoo and Romance related content. Including a new dating app with an interesting UI, romance ‘consultants’ (hmmm), changes to the base game attraction system, and a new world. Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about the expansion and I’m not sure which elements will be usable with the base game. Regardless, we don’t choose love, love chooses us and maxis has decided that your mods folder needs lots of their special ‘love.’ You can read more about the new expansion here: https://www.ea.com/en/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/store/addons/the-sims-4-lovestruck-expansion-pack or really anywhere on the internet.

For those who are new to this, a new expansion typically means a pre-patch will come the Tuesday or Thursday before. Which is tomorrow, July 23rd. It’s the pre-patch, not the expansion, which breaks mods by applying core changes to the game needed to support the new pack. 

But, don’t worry, your favorite modders are all working to pick apart the many changes the pre-patch and later the expansion will bring to the game. While it can be difficult to predict how long your favorite mods will be out of commission, it typically takes us (TURBO, Basemental, and me) few hours to about 2 days to release a patch depending on how many fundamental systems are altered! I’ll be in discord while patching tomorrow for those who want a more up to the moment prediction for how the patch is going, but for those who don’t use discord, I’ll be silently updating this post here as the process progresses, to keep you informed with how the patch is coming.

If you plan to play your modded sims 4 while we are working on the patch, then I highly recommend you disable updates. You can do this by opening the EA app, looking for the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left corner -> Settings -> hit the download tab just below settings (It’s not immediately obvious it’s a tab) then click off update games automatically, I’d probably disable ‘Enable Background Downloads’ just to be safe too. Then hit the 3 horizontal bars again and hit ‘go offline.’ This should prevent the sims 4 from auto-updating while your Mod Authors work on patches for you. If you want to be extra tinfoil, so shiny and chrome, you can disconnect your computer from the internet too, but that’s probably a bit cray cray.

  Please note this is a partial Patch. It hasn't been fully tested, and WW hasn't patched yet. There will likely be more patches needed but this should at least prevent WP from causing LEs in your game!
