Added 2024-10-06 13:00:12 +0000 UTCI wish I had better news but this week was just awful. I had two crucial errors while playtesting, and one was just because I am stupid. It is the same bug I encountered last time, which is i did not properly name all my (new) labels (you cannot let your labels start with a number, renpy has a problem with that). But that is just annoying and took a bit of time.
The other error, and sorry but how the fck am I supposed to know this, is you cannot shorten your character with "im".
in code you write define "syb" = "Sybill var'Artre", and also the color, font and everything else. so i only write "syb" in my code and Sybill var'Artre in red gets displayed in the game when she says something :).
Now I defined "im" for Iron Maiden and it turns out you cannot do that because renpy somehow already has defined "im" somewhere else. I believe for resolution or something.
Again, how the fuck am I supposed to know that!? And renpy doesn't tell you what the error is which it usually does. Only the error code above is displayed, don't tell me that execute_python_hidetile = im.Tile should have told me immediatly what I have done wrong :(. Took forever to fix and added to the frustrating week overall...
...I am going to be honest, even without this error I wouldn't have made the deadline for today. I felt tired the whole week about working on day 4 because there is still so much dialog to write, and I don't want to force it and write good dialogue instead but the time is constantly ticking down...then you have a DM about every hour about if and when the game is coming while you are behind your schedule already.
Good news is: Day 4 is still close to completion. But I am not giving any deadline. It can take 5 days from today, but it might take me two weeks.
This is the last patreon post before I release the update. Just have a bit of patience with me
So yeah, sorry about the delay, Day 4 will be worth the wait :)

It often makes mistakes or stupid desicions, so you always have to double check and verify. Just yesterday ChatGPT was telling me I can't just use XOR obfuscation with UTF-8 Characters in std::string because "for multi-byte UTF-8 characters, this will corrupt the encoding". But I pointed out that this is nonsense - XOR obfuscation works on byte level, and de-obfuscating would restore the original bytes, so it makes no difference if it's UTF8 or not. And CHatGPT went "oh yeah, you're correct!" - so you can't rely on AI for writing code for you. You have to understand your code 100%.

I need to start a new game anyway as my save is very old and doesn't have the gallery unlocked and I also need to change the Futa-slider, I think I had it at 85% but there are certain scenes I'd like to see in the femdom version. What can you tell us about the new gallery code? I remember you were worried that it might not work properly when adding new content/chapters. Have a great week!

2024-10-06 13:57:10 +0000 UTCthe renaming was not the problem, i just used "ima" instead of "im" for iron maiden and i think i will do 3 letters in the future instead of two. but renpy is usually good at showing you where the error is. not this time, at least not for me and my limited coding knowledge. could have just said "im" is defined twice and i would have known what to do...

I would start with x as in xIm but I came from X-Windows world. With a variable like "im" it must be tough to search for. You could put all characters in a structure. c.im.name.first = "Fred";
