Contest for a character design! (May/2024)

For this month we have a healer doe!! She's quite good at healing, but sadly she's afraid of, well, pretty much anything that might cause a need of healing. (and yes I seem to be on a redhead streak lol)

In order to participate, you must answer the prompt:

She's terrified of dungeons! How do you motivate her to enter one?

(You can make up new lore or personality traits for her if needed)

Rules:

•  Try to keep it within a couple sentences, or under 100 words.
•  There is no correct answer! Just come up with something you think would fit.
•  Only one entry per person
•  My TOS contest prize section applies to this design

Submit your entry in the comments before the end of May!

I'll pick the winner based on how creative/fitting/funny or otherwise interesting I think the entry is!

A treat, kiss, and a hug when she needs it!

Orb Juggler

She stood in front of the dungeon entrance, hesitant to enter. Her party had already gone ahead of her. She gripped her staff with determination as she gave a heavy sigh. “The wizard promised a lifetimes supply of apples and soybeans for this! Think of the beans!” And with that, she proceeds forth, ready to face the dangers.

Talerius

The healer doe was about to enter the dungeon when all of a sodden, a mysteries robe looking wizard told her-  "Take this amulet and you can complete the dungeon with ease". Hesitant at first but stilled listen and took the amulet as she descended into the dungeon. The doe kept pushing forward avoiding traps and monster, while finally getting the treasure she was looking for. As she return to the surface she spots the robe wizard and thanks him for the amulet, he chuckles-  "What amulet?" she looks, the amulet is gone, -looks up-, the robe wizard is gone.

WaterFox 21

The deer possesses powerful healing magic, that lets her help many. But that is not enough. She wants to help take care of as many people as possible, so she works tirelessly to develop healing salves to save people even if she's not there. Her search for raw materials have taken her to many places, but recently she came in possession of knowledge of mushrooms and plants that soak up magical properties in the dank depths of dungeons. While she is terrified of delving into one, it can't stop her from pursuing her goals.

"There was once a tale of a great healer - much like yourself - who entered the catacombs of a deep and dark dungeon... Them and their comrades were a fierce team when together! Though this dungeon brought the worst upon them. This brave healer provided light and warmth to their friends as they delve deeper, ensuring that nothing would stand in their way, foe or fear! Reaching the end of their adventure in this catacombs, a spirit awoken in front of the healer! A reward for their bravery and willpower was blessed upon them, giving them immense power to heal any sort of wound and even bring friends and allies back to life! This too could be you one day... Go! Travel deep into the darkest depths this world can provide! Be the shining light for your comrades!"

Balefire Phoenix

Hearing news of the recent crisis that has befallen the world tree, the healer doe made her way to the entrance to the catacombs that lay beneath the tree. Despite her fears of nearly everything that may lay within, she knew that she alone had the power to heal the tree and restore the land to a state of peace. Knowing that should she fail, countless people would suffer, she would take her first few steps towards the dusty, collapsing entrance of the dungeon, trying to steel herself for the task ahead.

Night Star

So I would reassure and to make sure to keep her calm, would let her keep a hand on me at all times so she would have the comfort of knowing I'm with her at all times to calm her. Would also move slow to keep at her pace to help with the reassurance

Natsunomeryu

I'd lie and say the cave is full of dank grass and no one else is in there. The satyr relieves her worries through smoking nature's magic herb during downtime. Course, as a cleric/druid, her wisdom would know this for a lie, but she figures our concern and goes in anyways.

Dalmonite

The bard was such a honey-sweet soul, bringing mirth and warmth to any he met. Never before had she heard such a saccharine voice, and he had such a wholesome outlook on life. He was just passing through town, and in the short few days she had known him, they quickly became friends. She had planned on joining the local apocathery as a healer for mundane ailments, such was her fear of anything outside the hamlet, until he revealed he was continuing on his journey to an infamous dungeon in the region. He was too pure, too innocent to let face the dungeon alone, and far too determined to be dissauded. She knew he had to be kept safe, and so she joined him. Despite the danger, she had a strong feeling everything would turn out okay.

Thy_Carpenter

I'd inspire her love of nature by telling her about all the cute and cuddly animals she could research by visiting the dungeon! If she doesn't come, she'll miss out on meeting them. She'd be accompanied the whole time, with the person she's healing never leaving her side! ...Even if it means sometimes taking some creative liberties describing a monster or two. "I thought you said it loved hugs ;~;" "Giant slimes do love hugs! ...dangerous ones. With their whole body."

LunarLiv

In the heart of the enchanted forest, Willow, the timid healer doe, cowers at the mention of dungeons. Desperate to convince her to join their quest, her companions weave a cunning fib: They present an amulet, claiming it holds ancient protective magic, ensuring her safety within the dungeon's depths. Reluctantly, Willow agrees, fear masked by the promise of security. Yet, as the depths are delved, the amulet's glow fails, revealing the deception. Will courage be born of necessity, or will comedic and possibly sexy dungeon-based hijinx ensue? Only one way to find out, I suppose..

Vandell

I imagine she likes collecting mushrooms. The more unique the better She adds them to her magic staff, once the staff gets fully covered, she retires that one and makes a new one. Annoyingly most mushrooms are in dark damp places. Being in a group makes her a bit more bold but if its a damp dungeon, she almost would be willing to go in on her own

nightstar6

To appeal to her timid nature, her party has convinced her there exists a race of innocent creatures that require her healing abilities, but are very shy about it. These creatures insist their healer neither sees nor hears them, lest they faint in panic. To accommodate for this, the magician of their party puts her under a temporary blindness and anti-hearing spell (rather than the sounds around her she instead gets to hear her favorite music.) She's led in by the party's designated hand-holder (a highly coveted position) and uses her aura abilities to detect where and when someone is in need of healing.

FloraSky

I would let her know about the unique fungi, lichen, and moss that exists in the dungeon! She could transplant some to her staff, use it for better healing, or whatever other interests she has! All for the low cost of some heals while the rest of the party scouts her way.

getfitkitten

A blight has caused the forest to become dark and twisted while the living creatures became infected with an unknown parasite. The only lead she has is a cave, nestled firmly in the epicenter, and the only way she could go inside is to hire a strong bear mercenary to assist her. Her home in danger, her friends threatened, she takes a deep breath and steps into the dungeon, knuckles pale around the staff she tightly grips.

Shannachka

I would take a moment to look her in the eyes and tell her, “Hey, it’s okay! I’ve got your back. You wont be alone.” Just before we enter id give her a big hug and id stick close. Id make sure she knows im close by talking with her to calm the nerves or giving her items and casting healing/support spells!

digitdeer

“Would you do it for a scooby snack?”

Worriedsnake

storm in coming and it's really cold outside. let's go to that dungeon-like cave to hide. ;)

konghuayingluo

listen to me, We finally faced the dungeon of the final. maybe you think I will start to motivate you. but no,you can stay. we need to make sure our best friend away from her terrified. It is the first battle without a healer. but,we love to challenge ourselves. we can have a good life from then on if winning. we can live a happy life to finish the unfinished... it's time to set off. as i said don't push yourself too hard. but you can still follow us if you are ready.

friskeyacoon

The cave mouth loomed before her. Heart racing she nervously she clutched the amulet around her neck. The amulet of protection didnt look like much, just an olive sprig pinned to her choker. It didn’t feel like magic at all.... but the witch assured her it was supposed to be like that, that the protection spell she cast on it was sooo powerful that she had to cloak its abilities, or someone would take it from her. She took a few deep breathes to activate the spell. Her heart stopped racing and she took a confident step into the cave.

Evem

"There's spiders and bugs in the forest outside, The only thing in the dungeon is monsters."

Nuwa Nightstone

Wherever there's a dungeon, there's bound to be other adventurers inside in need of help and revival. She took an oath to help as many folk as she could, so in spite of her fears she presses on. With a couple of helpful nudges from her much braver party members that is.

CosmoTheSoft

Magic repellent that she may attach to her staff to make all the spooders and other spookers go away :3 Maybe something in shape of an glowing orb she may put on top of the staff and then connect with it by making branches to grow around it? After all she's a druid, so she should know a trick or two to socket it properly ^^ Also made me realize that the possibility of the loot chest actually being a "horny mimic" chest is pretty low... but never zero :P Sooo yes... lot of fun dungeoning times xD

Nidsi

Her best friend, a bunny named Hops has been captured by the evil bunny king so she teams up with an aspiring hero that is trying to make a name for himself by freeing the lands of the kings tyranny.

Zippyzach

We tell her we have a big surprise involving a local attraction, luring her with promises of sweet treats, then blindfold her on the way in. Once we reach a point of no return, we take the blindfold off and say "Surprise! Please don't let us die."

CorgieGlass

Her name would be Ivy! She’s terrified of dungeons, due to the creepy bugs that are in there and potential monsters. She often makes the knights go retrieve her ferns/moss for her healing potions.. but recently, she picked up baking and has slowly built the courage to explore a dungeon on her own, in search to find the cavern apple. It is said to be the most delicious and one of the rarest, since it grows on a dungeon tree! She’s made a journal of all her findings, even finding Slushie’s lost gloves for her bunnygirl outfit!

Pookie

If we go into the dungeon, we can make money and use that money to buy food, and we both really like food, but we can't afford food if we don't go into the dungeon to get money to buy food. Go in the dungeon, maybe we'll find a wedding ring too.

NukePone

Red, I know this is scary, but you are the best healer I know, and our friends need us! And if that's not enough, when we get back, and we will get back, I promise, we can do *whatever you want*, deal? ;)

Obsidian

I "motivate" her with the power of misdirection. Whenever we're in front of a dungeon i start telling her stories about past adventures. While we talk and i see her fully focused on my story the group walks slowly inside the dungeon. When the story comes to an end were far into it. Too far to just walk back. She's angry each time but we can't do without her.

Der Burger

She's super cute!
