Added 2022-06-07 00:34:27 +0000 UTCSaturday I went and say "Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko" in theaters. Twice, actually. Once by myself, and a second time later that night with my brother's fiancee, since she likes anime and my brother doesn't care too much. It checks off some of my favorite tropes: coming of age, slice of life, Bumfuck Egypt Japan town that feels super lived in, and fun character animation. Basically following the life of a 10 year old girl who always moved around due to her mom, and more or less finding a place they're settling in. I highly recommend checking it out. Not sure if it's still in theaters or the availability of it. Honestly I was surprised it was playing on more screens after the usual 1 day in the middle of the week showings GKids films tend to get. I was even able to use my AMC A-List pass on it, so it didn't cost me anything to go in and see it (outside the monthly payment). I hope GKids manages to get their films onto screenings during the weekend more often. I really don't like going during the middle of the week. Friday night/Saturday's for me!
