Final pinup is Madison in her catsuit again. The ears may or may not be government regulation. Play a bunch of Super Mario 3D All Stars this weekend and beat Mario 64 and Sunshine. Not 100% mind you, because I'm not gonna put myself through that torture. I love the games, but those older ones I'm pretty satisfied once I beat Bowser. I will go back to 64 though since I skipped several levels. Once I got 70 stars I bum rushed to the last level. Of the three in the collection, I prefer Sunshine the best. 64 I absolutely loved as a kid, but it shows its age at times with some of its wonkiness. It's a 3D platformer from 1996, so that sort of thing is to be expected. The industry was still trying to figure it out. Mario hit his stride in terms of controls with Sunshine, with the added benefit of the water pack to allow for some course correction in case you fucked up. Not to say it doesn't have its fair share of bullshit. It just happens to have less in the controls department than 64. Now I say this without 100% the game, nor do I recommend 100%ing it either. Some of the stuff they make you do to complete every little thing in the game is hard as nuts. Thankfully most of that crap is optional. The lack of analogue triggers does bring some problems, however. For the most part I was able to readjust. The analogue triggers gave you the ability to adjust the water pressure, whereas you're given two in 3D All Stars: full power or off. Only way you can sort of replicate a lower pressure is to rapidly press the shoulder button, but it's not the same. Galaxy I'm tackling last, as it's my least favorite of the three. The Wiimotes were always a bitch for me to use, as I hate having split controllers. Worse was the fact in the original you had to shake the remote to spin. In 3D All Stars it's remapped to a button, which helps a lot. If you have heavy nostalgia for these games, then I highly recommend picking it up. If you already own the games on previous systems and aren't as lazy as I am to dig them out of storage along with your spare CRT TV from the closet and hook them up, then I can understand not wanting to drop $60 for it. I know people bitch about Nintendo not putting that much effort into the collection, but personally I'm fine with it. I don't need a Crash/Spyro remake for Mario 64. I got that with the DS version, which I don't like the look of as much, nor the introduction of the Yoshi/Luigi/Wario mechanics. In unrelated news, I watched one of the bootleg Dragon Ball movies last night, and it is wonderfully cheesy.
