For the first time in a decade, I purchased Minecraft. Haven't spent money on it since the alpha release, but decided to grab a copy for the Nintendo Switch so I could play it while relaxing on the couch. It's minecraft, which I like, so not much to say about it. Using a controller took some getting used to as I ever only played it on PC. All in all I'm having fun. Because of the change in control scheme I'm taking it slower than how I typically play on a PC, which in some ways makes it more relaxing. I can't build super elaborate buildings or works of art, but I enjoy making little bases and setting up farms. Prior to getting it I tried Dragon Quest Builders 2 to see if it could scratch the same itch while also be a new experience, but I couldn't get far. What I wanted was a game that I could drop in and out and play for however long I want and do whatever. Builders 2 has a story and quests you need to do, which really bogged down the experience. That and I wasn't enjoying the building controls. I hear it's a fun game and all, but for what I need right now it didn't do the job. Maybe when I feel like it's worth slogging through all those intro tutorials I'll be able to really get into the meat of it.
