Survived a Mountain Hike

Back in the Marines, they made us run a lot and do a bunch of exercises that raised our endurance even if it meant we weren't really the strongest people around. But it didn't seem to matter when you can run for hours and carry someone who was around your weight.
So it's been years since then and I've returned to a place I've held fond memories of, and part of those fond memories is climbing Vitosha Mountain. I've done it twice before, and I had a decent time doing it. But I'm not the crazy endurance machine from before, packed on 50 more lbs of weight, and I do mostly weight lifting at the gym with the occasional kick-boxing.
Yeah...
I felt like shit going up that mountain while trying to follow some friends.
I'm definitely out of mountain hiking shape.
But I made it to the top, had a beer. Then once I survived the trip back to the parking spot, had cow stomach served in milk with another beer.
It was a hard hike, but it definitely made the beer and meals tastier. And the view up there was amazing. Looked like something out of Studio Ghibli or in a painting or tiktok or whatever.
It also made me wonder if I want to stay in Europe for a little while longer. Oktoberfest is around the corner, and Germany isn't that far...
Anyway, that's all I have to say.
Enjoy the next chapter.
P.S.: The fever is gone, but I still have this weird soreness in the right side of my throat and it's affecting my right ear too with throbbing pain. Hopefully it'll go away with enough water and pain meds or I'll try out a hospital.
