[Dev Log] Geneva Korean BBQ Animation Preview + Behind the Scenes

Hello everyone, we are working on the animation, sound, and extra feature for Geneva's massive poop. Here is a preview of how it looks like right now, which also serves as a sneak peek to the game development process.


For a new poop animation, we start with how the poop will look like finally in the end. The final frame should look the best and show the poop texture and all its details. For Geneva's poop we want to emphasize its sheer size, so we made it overflow above the toilet seat. We want at least one special unique thing for each poop!


Then we work on the overstall view animation. Our workflow is to animate the poop pieces one by one. This is then exported as a spritesheet to be used in the game. Exclusive to Geneva's massive poop, since it is so big we have to separate it into two spritesheets! One for the part below the toilet seat filling the bowl, and another for the part that overflows above the toilet seat.


The next step is putting the animation in the game. This is also where we time and add the visual effects to the animation, such as the fart and splash effects. We split the animation into multiple parts to work with the dialogues and the game system.


Once the animation is in the game, we work on the remaining parts. We write the monologue / dialogue for all the character for that poop animation. Each new poop is a new opportunity to show their personality and uniqueness.


This is also when we produce and mix the sound effects for the poop animation. The audio is also split between parts so it syncs properly when the game is sped up, or the text is longer / shorter for different characters.


And finally we also work on the bottom view animation. Doing the bottom view animation at this stage ensures that everything syncs up properly. Just like the overstall view, the bottom view animation has to work with all the characters and toilet types.


Here is how the animation looks like, we are at the third step of the process which is integrating the animation in the game itself. And yes she squats on the toilet seat to be able to poop above the seat. Note that there is no sound or bottom view animation yet as they are in the works now.

I just saw the preview, just a suggestion why don't you include the diarrhea facial animations with this one. Seems kinda legit to me for taking a big dump like that.

Hi there, there is no censorship difference between different platforms. It might be a graphics related problem. May I know the details?

Yes, for the sit toilet they will go on top of the seat and squat. For squat toilet they will adjust their squatting position to be able to poop more.
