Weekly Update - The Girls Are Back In Town

"A'ight, a'ight, I'll join ya for that group pic. Just don't post that crap on social media. Ya know they keep all those images to train facial recognition software, right? Don't come asking for my help when the tyrannical state come knockin' at your door caus' they recognized you from a CCTV video, I warned ya."

I've spent the best part of the week preparing two things : the next CG scene for the Bodyguard Girl Remake, and re-rendering the character sprites for Don't Flex On Me Yumi-Chan!!!

See, I received the full character sprite for new girl Junko and artist Chayon is truly getting more and more talented with every new commission. So much so that their earlier work offers quite a contrast if you stop and examine the little details. For example, Chayon themselves expressed an annoyance at their initial go at Yumi's character sprite, considering their newer styles and techniques, and it appears obvious to me that I will need to eventually commission them to re-do Yumi in their latest, cleaner style before the end of the project.

In order to minimize the impression that this contrast could have on you, the players, I've decided to go back and rework the rendering methods I've used to generate the character sprites of Yumi and Rin. By that, I mean I've tweaked the parameters I use to downsize the original drawings in order to keep them as sharp and clean as possible, as well as pay much more attention to the layering of the face expressions and other clothing details.

This results in better versions of the first two girls. The drawings themselves haven't changed, of course, but eagle-eyed players will notice an appreciable upgrade in sharpness and details, I hope. Most specifically, you should see Yumi's overall appearance to be less muddy, and Rin's face outline to be more detailed.

But what did I say about The Bodyguard Girl Remake's next CG scene earlier, you ask?

I decided to commission a NEW scene that was not in the original game. The idea behind that scene uses ideas I've seen thrown around in comments here and there, and I believe will be quite exciting. We'll have to wait and see, delivery for this new commission should be around Valentine's day next month, so expect more news only then.

And that's it. Today marks the official ending to the holidays in Peach Punch's household. As soon as I publish this update, I'm going back to my living room to dismantle and put back the Christmas tree. Tomorrow is the return to normal for everyone, the 9 to 5 grind.

But don't be too down about it. Good times are ahead of us in 2025, at least for Peach Punch games, I can feel it. Cool new ideas and updates aplenty!

Until then, stay safe out there!
