Patreon request: LIVING IN OBLIVION (1995), please!!! Stars Steve Buscemi. A day in the filming of a low budget movie. It is a movie made for you to react to it! I promise you’ll love it!
Also in Professor Fate’s garage those things that dropped from the ceiling were antique fire extinguisher bulbs. I think this is my favorite Jack Lemon movie. Thanks for reacting to it. Also the pie fight took three days to film if I recall the story correctly. I think it still holds the record for the biggest pie fight in cinema history.

Yes, this film was well-received at the time, but it came out the same year (1965) as The Sound of Music, and it along with everything else that year was vastly overshadowed by the runaway popularity of Julie Andrews and those seven cute little moppets. We sang "The Sweetheart Tree" in high school chorus maybe a year or so later. So it's a nostalgic teardrop moment for me when I hear it.
You figured out that Tony Curtis was Leslie, Jack Lemmon was Prof. Fate, and Peter Falk was Max. (Do you recall Peter Falk as the Grandfather in The Princess Bride, who reads the story to his sick grandson? Or haven't you seen that one yet? You should! You must, eventually!))
Those of us of a certain age will recall Hal Smith, the mayor of Boracho, as Otis, the perennial drunk on The Andy Griffith Show. Also Vivian Vance who played the editor's troublesome wife, was Ethel Mertz, Lucy's neighbor and partner in hijinks on I Love Lucy. Ross Martin (the Baron who tried to swap the Prof. for the Prince) was familiar from the The Wild, Wild West TV series. Kenan Wynn (Hezekiah) was also a familiar face in miscellaneous supporting roles and TV guest appearances. I could go on, but let's leave it there. So lots of "Oh, yeah, that guy!" moments in this film, if you're near my age.

Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Peter Falk and Natalie Wood... It doesn't get any better than this!
I know... Some favor Marilyn with Tony and Jack in Some Like it Hot, but for me? The Great Race is the one I enjoy the most!
