Enjoyable film. Over the years, I've watched it around 10 times. I'm always interested in a Coen Brothers film. 'The Big Lebowski' is likely my favorite, then 'Fargo,' and 'No Country for Old Men,' which has the highest IMDb rating among their movies. And when it comes to Nicolas Cage movies, I'm sure you've seen most of them, but I highly recommend Matchstick Men (2003).

2026-02-22 21:22:02 +0000 UTCNicolas cage’s character’s name was H.I. McDonough. When he signs his goodbye note at the end we find out his first name is, in fact, Herbert. The song Hollly Hunter sang was “Down in the Willow Garden.” It has one of those wonderfully tangled American folk histories where the song is older than any one version of it. The song began life in Ireland, likely in the early 1800s, as a murder ballad about a young man who kills his lover and faces execution. It traveled to North America with Irish immigrants, where it took root in the Appalachian oral tradition. Before mass media news of crimes was often spread by song, afaik. Now please watch SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE soon. it's not a madcap comedy but I promise you'll love it (it's success ushered in the rise of indie cinema).
