Although it’s a true story, some of the characters were not exactly real. Dwayne Johnson’s character was a conglomerate of several actual people. The two other thugs (Daniel and Adrien) were real and were sentenced to death. In 2024 they were resentenced to life in prison. There was no real person involved named Victor Kershaw. The person was real but the name was changed for the movie. The notary guy, John Mese, was real. He was sentenced to 56 years, not 15. After appeal he was resentenced to 30 years. He did in fact die in prison. Many of the facts match up to the real case, but I suspect that the movie included some hyperbole for dramatic effect. Some of the depictions in the movie seem far fetched.

Yeah, this was funny. I'd never seen this before, but I had seen the documentary on 48 Hours, and I believe it was titled the same as Pain and Gain. But if I remember correctly, the true story was more violent, believe it or not. I'm always up for a movie based on a true story. Please keep them coming, Coby

It’s definitely a true story. Though, it’s hard to imagine the thugs were that stupid. But maybe they were 🤷🏼‍♂️

She already did when she was associated with Criminal Content.

Would you consider reacting to Leon AKA ... The Professional with Natalie Portman and Jean Reno ?

I found the articles the movie was based on. I'll probably finish reading up on these later in the week, but from what I have already read it is a darker story than the movie. More guys involved than the 3 in the movie and a few of them planned to kill their victims from the beginning. The first victim Schiller was tortured for weeks. Some of the stuff from the movie was pretty accurate in that it was the 8th attempt before they successfully kidnapped him. The crash that Schiller survived, followed by dowsing him and the car with gas, and then hitting him with the car all happened similar to the movie (no running over his head though). Here is the link (3 articles, I read the first): https://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/pain-and-gain-6396870/

This movie really surprised me. It's so funny and well done. An underappreciated gem, and easily the best Michael Bay movie.

Kinky…

As with any "based on a true story" film, there's definitely some "artistic license" taken this one's retelling.
