THE PLAYER (1992) - Full Watch Along

I believe the voice of the postcard writer is the same as the one who gave the eulogy at David's funeral. I could be wrong. And I did notice Jack Lemmon at the party; he was playing the baby grand piano, but he had no speaking roles. Jacob's Ladder (1990) and Arlington Road (1999) are two more Tim Robbins films I would recommend.

I wasn't sure Lyle Lovett wasn't just playing himself being weird. It took a while for Susan Sarandon to show up I kept watching for her.

Oh, one other bit of trivia about the movie from the directors commentary track. When movie agents heard Robert Altman was doing a movie about Hollywood they were worried about how Altman would roast them. Altman handles agents by NOT MENTIONING THEM ONCE IN THE MOVIE.

Yes, the opening sequence of the movie was one continuous shot that lasted over 8 minutes. Actor Randall Batinkoff played Reg Goldman. He's the actor you didn't recognize but who looked familiar. Jack Lemmon played the piano at Dick Mellon's (played by Sydney Pollack) house party. Coby: Is that a poster for Dial M for Murder? It was a poster for Fritz Lang's film "M." Terence Stamp was not in this movie. I'm not sure the name of the actor you thought was Terence at Dick Mellon's party.

Yet another great movie I am so glad you watched! The Ref, zero effect, and now the player. If want a movie as good as these PLEASE consider watching Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989)! It won all sorts of awards and kicked off the run of indie movies in the 90’s. I promise making a YT safe edit would not be a lot of work. Also, please create a Patreon chat group for your channel so I can post pictures of my dog as Derek Zoolander…. https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/comments/1pd1ab2/blue_steel/ Also, another FANTASTIC Tim Robbins movie is Jacob’s Ladder. Please!

Was any role not a cameo? I spotted so many and probably missed so many more! Also, no more snake killing! Enough!

Thanks for reacting to this one, Coby. I knew that, as someone who likes movies and has some experience in the movie industry, you would like this one. I'm glad I was right! I think the opening scene was about 8.5 minutes long before the very first cut. Also, did you notice that we never really "exited" the movie within the movie? It opens with the clapboard and "Quiet on the set! Action", but doesn't end with someone saying "Cut!" or something similar.

Another movie I haven't seen before! I'll try to watch today or tomorrow!
