Magma Dragon Rewrite Announcement:
Added 2025-04-10 07:11:52 +0000 UTCHello Dear Reader,
First, I would like to thank you for your continued support. A great sense of pride and satisfaction wells from the bottom of my heart, knowing someone enjoys my writing enough to pay to read my words. Once more, thank you.
Here is where people often put a but — however, there will be no butts from me. All I will offer is an explanation, because you deserve one.
Why do I wish to rewrite and why I find it necessary?
To make a better story. :) This is my first draft, and I was mostly discovering the plot and the characters as I went along. These are now fixed and ready for the next level.
Newt’s story has deviated from the Xianxia genre and failed to deliver genre promises. In fact, I think I failed at all of them, which is quite a feat. As such I will rewrite as western cultivation, where one does not expect slaughter and massacre over suspicious looks nor where the protagonist does everything perfectly regardless of world and logic.
The story with Dandelion’s point of view is coming out soon as a separate novel, and it made me rethink what I have done wrong with MDC and what areas I can improve.
I want to have more Magmin in the story; Magmin as he was in the first chapters, not as a deranged failure struggling in the imprints of his realms.
More coherent power system. I’m currently following the xianxia principle of things being as strong as I need them, instead of being consistent. That’s sloppy writing, and I’m guilty of it.
Eliminating poorly plotted elements and dead ends from the first forty-fifty chapters. Such as overpopulation of heart demons and such.
I got tangled with an overly formal language narrator point of view, which is really annoying me at times, probably you too, Dear Reader.
I have an ending and the next three major arcs plotted out, one in the Savage Wood, one against the Blood Cult, one against all four demonic cults.
What does that mean for you, Dear Reader?
Sadly, after the Sage’s Realm tournament, the plot pauses for the next half a year or so.
About a week of radio silence for me to read through everything, cross out what needs crossing, and to plot out any holes which might consequentially appear.
After that, daily chapters (or five per week, if I can’t keep up) with rewritten, albeit old content, some of which will be newish, but nothing groundbreaking.
Magmin. Need I say more?
I’m open to feedback, what do you think hurt the story so far? Anything you disliked in particular? Anything you loved and would like to see more of? While I may not implement the changes you request, I will consider them all with utmost seriousness as I do all feedback. You have a week to let me know before I start with the rewrite.
A separate tier just for you, Dear Reader, with free Patreon membership until the story catches up. If you still wish to support me, you can subscribe to the Dandelion story, or upgrade to the bling tier, since it should be double cost and you should pay half, since you’re upgrading. If Patreon charges the full, double cost, I’ll refund you or we set the next month’s subscription to zero, or something. We’ll wing it; Patreon is a horrible platform from the creator’s end, especially for web novels. We’ve been asking for an index page for years, ability to schedule chapter edits, and basic text formatting, but we still haven’t received any of it. Just horrible UI changes.
And last, but not least, this post means I’m grateful and honored that you’re here, willing to support my dream. Bless you.
