I have never seen subtitles where the 2nd line of dialogue is above the 1st line before, and I have at least a few hundred subtitled action and martial arts movies from Asia in my collection (including this movie). As you said, it was as if Yoda wrote the subtitles đ. The piece of music that you recognised was the Sabre Dance from the 1942 ballet Gayane. It has been widely used in numerous movies, TV shows and video games.
