It’s not that Michelle was bad, she was fine. But everyone in the audience could think of someone in their mind who would be having more fun doing that role, it very much gave “I’m doing this for my friend.” Why have her sing at all? You changed so much you want your friend in the movie then make the character work for your friend. They felt way too shackled to the Broadway structure.

The added miss Coddle character and new dialogue as a result could have been the reason, but Madame Morrible just offering her a full ride on the spot and her father not objecting or offering his input?
