Lila's expression turned professional, and she gestured to a chair. "Please, sit. Let's focus on your proposal."
Collin took a seat, holding his documents. "Yes, of course. Sorry again."
Lila smiled, her green-brown eyes sparkling. "No need to apologize. I'm interested in your project. Arnold speaks highly of you."
Collin's nerves eased slightly. Although he knew that Arnold probably spoke lies about him "Thank you, Ma'am."
"Please, call me Lila. We're not formal here." She leaned forward, her ponytail swayed. "Tell me, what's this project about?"
Collin launched into his pitch, detailing Wyatt's film concept, target audience, and marketing strategy. His nervousness was gone. He practiced this pitch ever since he was in the hospital. He didn't want to let go of the opportunity.
Lila listened intently, her expression unreadable.
As Collin spoke, he couldn't shake the feeling that he knew Lila from somewhere. He sneaked glances, but his memory remained elusive.
When Collin finished, Lila leaned back in her chair, tapping her fingers. "Impressive. You've clearly put thought into this. What makes you think this film will succeed?"
Collin's nervousness was gone. If learned something from Arnold, it was to make sure to never appear nervous in front of the clients and business dealings.
"I believe in the director's vision. And I've seen his creation, indicators that suggest this movie will resonate with audiences." He was technically not lying, but also not saying the truth. It was amazing that he said it straight.
Lila's eyes narrowed. "Indicators? What kind?"
Collin's heart raced. Should he share his secret?
"Just a gut feeling, Ma'am—Lila."
Collin wanted to slap himself with that reply. He knew he fucked up. Gut feeling was never enough to convince an investor.
Lila's gaze lingered on him before nodding. "I'll consider your proposal. Can you tell me more about your director, Wyatt?"
"He's a new graduate from UCLA's Department of Film, Television, and Digital Media. I watched his first movie, which is a horror movie, and I know he has great potential."
Collin was ready and also prepared Wyatt's credentials.
He was Wyatt's representative in this kind of business deal as he knew that the young aspiring director would probably shit himself if he talked to the investors.
"Let's see..." Lila muttered.
Collin couldn't discern her expression.
"It's nice to meet you again, Collin. Someone will contact you later."
"Okay, Ma'am."
Collin was actually screaming deep inside. Based on Lila's reply, the chances of getting an investment were high.
He excused himself after thanking the CEO and closed the door.
When Collin was gone, Lila looked at the document again.
"... I'll give you a chance." She weakly smiled. Then she called someone.
"Hello? You said you're looking for an investment, right? Do I look like I'm going to scam you? Yeah, yeah, just contact them yourselves. I'll fax you the script and their contact number. Don't share the script with anyone, or else you know what will happen. Huh, I'm not scared at all."
.........
......
...
Collin was exhaled while in the elevator. He had experienced signing his clients to some movies, he also worked hard to convince Director Esteban to sign Wyatt to be his assistant director.
However, none of them made him nervous as much as the CEO.
"Perhaps it's because she's so beautiful that I'm afraid to do something that will give her the ick... Collin, I thought we were past that stage."
Collin was handsome and he was sure about that. Or else he won't have a chance in the modeling industry. He subconsciously does things that make him handsome in the eyes of other people.
He returned to his office table... The place was noisy as the other agents were talking on their phones.
As for him, he was not that busy because he had few clients and jobs to take care of. Besides, he just came from and he didn't want to overwork himself. He didn't want to worry his family again.
While looking at the movies that his clients could audition for, the phone on his table started ringing.
He answered it and realized that Wyatt was calling him.
-- Director, someone just called him a few minutes ago. He wants to talk to me about the script.
"Huh? That fast!?"
Collin was surprised. He just finished talking to the CEO half an hour ago and now someone was already interested in their projects.
